Wemmbu was never really sure he was human.
Or, well, humane. But humane also felt wrong, in a way. Wemmbu knew full well that orbital cannons and macing people on the daily wasn’t humane. Manipulating and escaping prison and running a sword through a few chests wasn’t something anybody that was okay did.
Beyond that, though—in the little things like his mindset and everyday interactions with people—Wemmbu felt a deep disgust for the fact he was so uncertain. At what point did defensive actions become acting cruel? At what point did sarcasm and ignoring his problems turn into being something not even his rival could look at with complete respect? Not even his mentor could handle, despite the fact that it was far before he ever got this bad.

Wind blew past him as he fell. It caressed his purple locks in the only violent nature he knew he'd endure again and again willingly. Wemmbu gazed at the skies painted in orange
(flaming)hues, for an entire second forgetting that he was pushed off...By the person he thought he could trust and turn his back to. Suddenly everything felt...
So far away.
It matters not. Not anymore even if it's a betrayal Wemmbu experiences yet another time. He felt tired. Bone deep exhausted. Perhaps that was the reason for Flame's next blows to be not as strong as usual.
In the end it doesn't really change anything. Wemmbu still feels that hollow exhaustion by the time he admits defeat, by the time he gives up his title of 'the strongest' and Lettuce comes to collect him. For some reason the idea of execution doesn't sound as bad as it did before.
Maybe he could even rest a bit. Or see Rejoice.
Or: Wemmbu is tired. Flame... for some godforsaken reason... Cannot just not care.
Set after/during his Prison arc and some crumbs of the invis arc.

His new college.
It really was beautiful. The Victorian-style architecture rose proudly against the sky, all sharp angles and elegant curves, with multiple towers and narrow balconies that looked like they belonged in another century. A copper-tiled roof caught the light, dulled by age but still warm in color. Massive oak trees surrounded the campus, their branches stretching wide as if to shelter it. The few orange and yellow leaves clinging stubbornly to the limbs swayed softly in the wind, fluttering down now and then to crunch beneath passing feet.
