Today’s the anniversary. Phineas knows as soon as he wakes up in the Headmaster’s bed that’s never really felt like his. He feels it down to his bones, knows that today’s going to be an off day, that he’ll stumble over his words more than usual, that he’ll jump at the slightest sound and send the students into hysterics, that he’ll pace through the grounds of Hogwarts only to stare at his memories instead of what’s in front of him.

Gale has come up with a way to help jog The Dark Urge’s memories using the noblestalk they found in the Underdark. However, it slowly jogs a past relationship that the dragonborn wasn’t expecting and an equally concerning self-discovery of who he was. This discovery is also bothering his companions and he’s beginning to wonder if it’s worth remembering such things.

It was no surprise, after all the nether brains damage to the city had been nearly cataclysmic. It’d be foolish to think the underground would have fared any better...A desire, a whim, a calculated risk, whatever it may have been, it led him down the path to where the Nether Brain once lay dormant, with two hundred gold pieces rattling in his pocket.
