"I need to talk to Aunt Nemuri," Hitoshi says and he doesn't feel bad for it because Shouta and Hizashi have always told him that it's totally okay if he doesn't want to talk to them about something, he's always more than welcome to talk to whoever he feels most comfortable with.
And for this, that is Aunt Nemuri.
"Okay," Hizashi slowly says. "On the phone or—"
"In person," Hitoshi decidedly says because he doesn't think he could sort out his thoughts over phone.
"Now?"
"As soon as possible, please," he gives back because he knows Aunt Nemuri is busy most of the time and it would be rude to demand she drop her work or something but it really needs to be soon.
Or Hitoshi will simply burst out with it and he thinks that would be worse than anything.

not fuvkin comig in tmr.I blinked, then tapped the notification.

[unknown number]: fk it. what ar yo goin do? disvcarge me.?I stared at the nearly incomprehensible message. Clearly, whoever was on the other end was in no state of mind to be typing. My finger hovered over the three dots in the top corner, ready to block them, but I hesitated. In that moment, another message came through.
[unknown number]: wish u wld. sick if it all. kick me our alrdy.
[unknown number]: less then I can off mself witou geying u in trobleBefore I even realized what I was doing, I pressed call on the mystery number, holding the phone to my ear. Whoever this stranger was, they were obviously further along in a similar boat to me. A kindred spirit.
He picked up on the fifth ring.
“...Fuk ye wan?” The man muttered, voice slurring heavily, his thick accent not making it any easier to understand him.
I swallowed. I hadn't actually thought about what happened when I got this far.
“H-hey,” I stuttered, voice embarrassingly weak. “I think you texted the wrong number but…I wanted to check on you?” -

Lo’ak listens half-heartedly– Kiri telling Neteyam about a dive she’d done earlier, Tuk rattling off a billion questions towards his parents– his thoughts drifting back to the Metkayina girl. Tsireya had never seen a pa’li.
Never even heard of one.
His fingers trace the edge of the pattern on his bowl.
If he couldn’t bring a pa’li here…maybe he could make one.

After Neteyam's death, Lo'ak was never the same. He never joked, he never teased, he never looked anywhere but ahead of him. He was now the only son of Sully, and he had to act like it. There is no mourning for a warrior until the war is over. Lo'ak was numb.
He couldn't find comfort in anyone, not even his own mother. Despite her being a Tsahik, she never seemed to notice his pain. But there was one Tsahik who seemed to understand his turmoil.
