Dan Howell, inspired since his youth by the work of Lester, became one of the most prominent and praised architects in London. Still in the closet, he has closed the doors to relationships and focuses all his energy, time and money on charity

He had no idea why he was so nervous today. He had been coming to the gym every other day for over two years now, the people here knew him, and he (allegedly) knew them. So what was a fucking group class so infuriating to him?
If he believed in something, he would’ve thought that there was something odd in the air and that he should go back home, to prevent himself from whatever disgrace destiny had prepared for him.Or: Dan needs to partner up in gym class but instead decides to bolt.

Dan had always been like this. Or, not always, but at least for the last decade or so. Sometimes he just felt sad, or tired, or that the world was too much to bear. Sometimes he wished he could just disappear and return a few days after when everything had passed. And the worst part was that, most of the time, feeling like that it didn’t even make sense.

Summary
The duality of feelings was beginning to feel unbearable. He was having the time of his life. Seeing his fans in a different scenario, away from youtube and everything it once meant, was a magnificent experience. Every night he was received with cheers and happy faces from people who indulged him in making the audience look as an extension of the stage, all dressed in black and orange and gold and silver (and an awful lot of rainbows). He loved them.
But he missed Phil. He missed him so much the pain in his chest wouldn’t go away anymore.
Or
Dan is away on the US leg of WAD. Phil is back home trying to get his helath back in track. Dan misses him but is having the time of his life at the same time.

Even like this, standing there, frozen, panic etched onto his features as he tried, for the third time, to open the door of the washing machine before the cycle has run out, Phil could just eat him up.
"It's not finished yet," he tells the boy gently, making sure to keep his voice quiet, because if someone caught him not knowing what to do and freaking out about it in any public situation, he'd be a right mess too. "See the number on the display? That's the minutes the cycle has left. It's another fifteen."
In a world without the internet, the universe can't stop coming up with other outlandish ways for Dan and Phil to keep running into each other.

This, too, has always been easy, in a way. Too easy. The kind of love that Dan, with his heart sewn on his sleeve, could never keep quiet. A blade—at his throat, his wrists, twisting in his gut—always sharp; refusing to dull, despite his best efforts; his worst fears. A love that pulses in his chest, that lurks behind his eyes, his smile, that curves his spine, that pushes and pulls the air from his lungs. A love that demands to be known.
Almost. If only Dan could make it there. He swallows, suddenly sick with wanting, terrified at the prospect of never getting to have that life, the one that’s supposed to have started already, that maybe should have started a long time ago. Loving loudly, like he’s always been prone to do, but without the notion of secrecy or consequence. Loving Phil, the way Phil has always deserved.
