Ryland continued as he stabbed at his beans. „I know we’ve never really talked about it, but you said you weren’t opposed to it when we started going out and when Rachel announced it today- of course I was happy for her, I am so happy for her, but some part of me was sad, because… I don’t know. I’m turning 36 this year and I suddenly started feeling like if we don’t work on having kids now, it’ll be too late and-„ He paused to take a breathe. „I just- I realized I really want kids. Doesn’t have to be a whole litter, I’d be happy with just one, but as they say; It takes two to tango and I’d never force you into this if you didn’t want to.“
„I’ll think about it.“ Simon said quietly, trying to swallow past the lump in his throat.
Ryland smiled at him and reached over to squeeze his hand. „Thank you.“⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾𖤓 ⋆⁺₊⋆

„Humans have one heart. Question?“ Rocky stomped one of his back legs twice.
„Yes, Rocky, humans have one heart.“ I answered. We had gone over the basic anatomy of our respective species weeks ago.
„What mean when human one heart sound like two hearts. Question?“
I frowned and slowly put down the chain. „I- what do you mean?“ My right hand automatically moved to the wrist of my left, measuring my pulse. It was a little elevated, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary.
„Grace sound like two hearts. There.“ He pointed towards my abdomen.
„No, no, Rocky, my heart is here.“ I pointed to the middle of my chest, slightly to the left.
„Yes, one. Two there.“ He kept pointing at my abdomen.- - -

There was a crash from the attic.

„There’s a… guy? I think? Up there.“

The figure moved their head slightly, Chiron still couldn’t see their face. „Hello.“ They replied. „Did Hermes send you?“
Chiron frowned. „No.“
They hummed and turned back towards the window.
„Who are you?“ While he sensed no maliciousness coming from them, Chiron was weary of this stranger appearing seemingly out of nowhere.
They leaned their head from side to side, humming, then answered: „For now I am your Oracle.“
-
„Tiresias of Thebes. An honor to meet you, Chiron of the centaurs.“

Summary
The man lying in front of her looks like Six. Almost exactly like him, actually. But there are hairline differences that she's only really seeing now that he's close. He's big, but not particularly muscular. He's wearing a shirt with Snoopy on it. When she checks his mostly bare arms, she finds none of the scars or tattoos she made a careful study of during the few days she knew him.
She also realizes where she knows the divets on his nose from; her uncle has the exact same thing when he takes his reading glasses off and kisses her head goodnight.
He's not Six. She has no idea who this is.
"What the fuck." Claire whispers.

Summary
"Don't try to get up," Colt says. His voice is very even. "Stay right there, Ry. Just stay."
The man between them looks almost bored, which is somehow the worst thing about him. He checks his watch. He looks at the door.
Come on, Colt thinks. At no one. At the door. At the empty idea of rescue. Come on. Come on.
He doesn't let himself think the name.
He thinks it anyway.
---
Or, getting kidnapped alongside Colt and Jody is not Ryland's preferred method of learning his long-dead older brother is actually alive.

Summary
We’re getting a few calls into the station regarding our announcement of the Sun’s early retirement. Frankly Night Vale, I think you’re overreacting a little bit. Humanity has been around for millennia already, I’d say we’ve had a pretty good run. And this way we all get to know exactly when we’re going to die! Who hasn’t wished for that before, huh?
Now another important update from Dr. Grace: he has found a rock.
