A motorcycle roared to a stop outside the Manhattan lodging house just after midnight, every Greaser rushed to the windows to see who was crazy enough to be out in the pouring rain.
No one expected it to be Spot.
The King of Brooklyn never crossed into Manhattan. Not with the borough lines drawn the way they were. Not unless something had gone terribly, terribly wrong.
Within moments, the lodging house emptied as all the Pistols poured into the street, surrounding Spot with shouted questions and suspicious glares. Jack shoved his way to the front, arms crossed tightly over his chest.
"What are you doing here?"
Spot didn't answer.
His eyes swept over the crowd, "Where is he?"
Jack frowned.
"Where's who?"
Spot finally looked him in the eye.
"Racetrack Higgins. WHERE. IS. HE?"

orRacetrack Higgins was, without question, the most infuriating person on the planet.

Shoveling a handful of chips into his mouth, Race sighed. Another Friday at home, getting lost in whatever bullshit reality show was on TV. The blond picked up his phone from his chest to see that he still didn’t have any notifications. He checked his ringer, which was still switched on, and he checked his Do Not Disturb settings, which were still turned off. He huffed and set his phone back down.
Needless to say, Race was bored.
