Sebastian stared at the little blue message until his eyes blurred and the letters doubled. He swiped out of the thread, opened up Instagram, double-tapped, swiped, double-tapped. Long swipe up, back to the blue message where his thumb hovered just above.
Should he delete it?
Nope, too late…
Three little dots bounced in the corner.His breath caught in his throat, heart pounding when the white message appeared, short and sweet.

And there, floating in the vast expanse of space, is a tree.
“What the actual—?” I mumble.
“What Grace see?” Rocky asks eagerly.
“It’s a, um…” I zoom in on it, making sure it’s really what I’m seeing. It’s seriously a tree, a large maple tree. Without any soil, the roots drift as if tendrils underwater in the zero G. Just above the roots, the trunk is skewed, like it’s growing around something. The bark is red, the leaves dead, most branches bare.
“It’s a tree,” I say. “Like, from Earth, kind of tree.”
“Grace lying,” Rocky claims, skittering over to see for himself. Then, “Grace… not lying.”
