Summary
“Are you in love with me?” Mike yells, flinching back like he regrets it as soon as the words slip from his tongue.
“What do you want me to say?” Will says weakly, hating how his voice cracks in the middle.
Mike stays silent.
“Can’t you see what I was afraid of?”
“I want you to be honest with me like you used to.”
“We aren’t like we used to be, Mike. Nobody is. We aren’t kids anymore. You know that. Things have changed.” You’ve changed, he thinks.
“Fine,” Mike says, his face shifting as if closing himself off, back to the neutral expression that's haunted him since he first came back from California. Maybe even since he came back from the Upside-Down.
Will wants to scream, to cry, to be honest, as he watches Mike walk away from him. He just wants him to stop.
And then; “I don’t think any of that. That you’re gross, or wrong, or anything. And I could never hate you.” -

“What happened?” Keith asks, breaking the comfortable silence. “I mean… Your arm… You were gone after the mission. Adam and I worried. We thought you were…” He pauses for a second, debating whether to say it or not. “Dead,” he whispers.
“I-” Shiro inhales sharply. His eyes seem to be looking at something else—or somewhere else Keith can’t reach. It stays silent for a minute before Keith places a hesitant hand on Shiro’s shoulder, startling him again.
“Sorry. You don’t have to. Talk about it I mean. I'm sorry,” Keith reassures.
“It’s alright.” Shiro smiles at him, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “We’ll talk about it another day, yeah?”
“Yeah.” He says, lowering his hand. “I… Uhm I just– I thought I wouldn’t… see you again…” he pauses, his voice cracking on the last word. “And I’m– I really am sorry. I didn’t want that to be the last thing that–” He breathes in, trying to hold back a sob. “I didn’t want that to be the last thing I said to you.”
He stops, silently looking at his brother who’s still turned towards the sunset. Shiro turns towards him, holding his arms out in offering.
Keith immediately jumps forward into the hug, turning his head as tears spill down his cheeks.
“I’m sorry.”

“Remind me why you're still not over this guy?” Asked Max, sighing like nothing he had just said had impacted her in the slightest. “He’s just being an asshole. Not communicating, being distant. It’s typical Wheeler shit.”
“But what if his ‘typical Wheeler shit’ has always been a problem and we’ve just been ignoring it?” Will said into his knees. It had never made sense to him why Mike had just suddenly ‘became an asshole’ out of thin air. He figured maybe it was just a puberty thing that made him distant, but after having lived with Mike for almost two years now, he was starting to think it may be something else.

Mike starts to have nightmares about past traumas, and the people he's hurt. He tries to hide his feelings about Will, after El's death, out of fear that he'll end up hurting Will more. But Mike is a terrible liar, and Will knows something's wrong.

this is a very painful fic. there will be no comfort at all. this entire fic is just charlie spiraling lower and lower and nick being distant, eventually resulting in something i won't name yet for the sake of spoilers but involves a lot of masochism and violence.
please don't even start reading if you're sensitive to narlie fights, or if you have a history with with suicidal ideation, self-harm, an eating disorder, or masochism. i love each and every one of you, even if you don't know me, just know that i really do care and if you need to talk just let me know in the comments.
this fic (so far) is an entire day from charlie's perspective while he was being bullied. it is non-canon-compliant since the bulk of the bullying occurs during the same year he's seated next to nick in form. if you want a heavy angst narlie fic, this isn't it. this is VERY charlie-centric.
once it starts getting past ideation, i wil add dead dove into the tags in order to protect more people.
