Summary
After returning from Ahm Araeng, the Light has begun to take a toll on Ardwin’s health. At the Exarch’s behest, she takes an extra day to rest and recover before leaving for Eulmore.
That evening, Ardbert discovers several extremely interesting things:
First, that – for reasons yet unknown – he can siphon the worst of the Light off from Ardwin.
Second, that the two of them can touch each other, which throws him for quite the emotional loop.
Third, that they are both very interested in touching each other a lot more.

Summary
With the ring of a lone bell marking the first hour after midnight, Ardwin stirs. She sniffs at the air, eyes still closed, picking up the scent of the still-warm soup and bread that Fray had left by the hearth. Finally, her eyes open, and she meets Fray’s steady golden gaze.
She jolts into a sit, her eyes wide. “What the fuck. Weren’t you dead?”
Ardwin came back from Ultima Thule physically and emotionally broken. Then she finds a soul crystal in the Brume.
Fray, newly ripped apart from her and struggling to find their own place in the world, even as they conceal their true nature, has a lot of patching up to do before Ardwin’s fit to swing a greatsword – and she needs to learn, fast, before she loses control over the rest of her repressed emotions.
