Summary
He wasn’t entirely sure what it was. The pain. It was brutal, and it was suffocating, worse than the first time he’d been dragged to the Upside Down at eleven years old and frozen half to death, curled up wetly in the corner of Castle Byers. It was very pinpointed, though. He could distinctly describe every sensation — it started on the surface of his skin, initially freezing cold, and then growing into a heat so fierce it stole the breath from his lungs. It was as though somebody had crashed a molotov into his body and watched him light up for their own warmth.
Or, Will still feels Vecna's agony after the end of The Piggyback. Only one person can make it go away.

Summary
“In our next life, we’ll get married.”
Will can’t help but laugh at the words.
“I didn’t know reincarnation existed in Catholicism.”
“It’s doesn’t." Mike whispers, tipsy starlight dancing in his eyes, "But I'd believe in anything for you, Will.”
And Will knows Mike is telling the truth. That’s what kills him the most.
or
When Mike is twelve, a new boy arrives at the orphanage. Will—bruised and broken—makes Mike wonder about the world beyond church windows and forgotten forestry. He makes Mike wonder about himself, who he is, who he wants to be. And it only leads to damnation.
When Mike is seventeen, he is sent away to The City. Away from Will. But when he returns five years later, Will isn’t the same boy that he’d left behind. He’s taller, broader, still so beautiful, but his eyes have changed. Once filled with innocent hazel light, they now hold a lifeless gaze that Mike doesn’t recognise.
As Mike dares to look closer, secrets begin to surface, and it falls on him to expose them. All whilst he tries to fulfil his reason for returning to the orphanage — to save William Byers.

Bookmarker's Notes
He feels other eyes on them, though. Not the right eyes, not Will’s. But the eyes of the other children who sit in front of their half empty plates. Mary’s soft ones as she slips past the dining room door heading back to the kitchen. Angry, cold ones at the head of the mahogany table. But Mike doesn’t care. He can’t bring himself to care anymore. Because he’ll be gone soon. And he can’t leave with this image of Will in his mind. The face that was once bright, that shone just for him during cloudy afternoons. The one that smiled at him like he’d hung the moon in the sky even as the sun burned above them, kissing at their bodies as they laid in the flowers atop of the hill. The face that he’d see, serene and beautiful, every night before he’d fall asleep. The one he always dreams of.

Summary
Will Byers is not a wizard. He’s a sorcerer.
Unfortunately, sorcery comes with side effects — nosebleeds, power surges, and a cold that refuses to go away.
As Will catches a mysterious cold after unlocking his powers at the MAC-Z, Mike Wheeler steps in to take care of his best friend. Because that’s all they are. Just friends. Obviously.
A post–Season 5 fix-it bringing back THE REAL Mike Wheeler (aka the one in season 1 and 2) complete with caretaking, slowburn Byler, mutual pining, and the kind of love that flickers the lights.

Summary
Will’s breath hitches. “I’m scared.”
“I know” Mike whispers. “I’m not going anywhere…”
Will’s grip tightens.
And something in Mike’s chest breaks.
His heart is suddenly pounding way too hard, way too fast, like it’s trying to get out of his ribs. Will is warm against him, shaking and real and here, and Mike becomes acutely aware of everything— the weight of Will’s arms, the way his breath keeps catching against Mike’s chest, the way his fingers are twisted into his jacket like he’s afraid to let go.
It’s… a lot.
Too much.
Mike swallows, throat tight. He doesn’t loosen his hold, but his breath stutters for a second, the intensity of it all hitting him at once.
He’s never held Will like this before.
Not like this.
