The ground shook and split as ash rained from the sky. It was over. Vecna had won. The slippery bastard had beaten them at their own game.
And then Steve was somehow back in his bedroom. No explanation, no warning. He had no idea how he ended up back in ‘83, but by god he had three years to try and change the tide and he wasn’t going to waste them. And hell, maybe he'll get to that whole 'thrown back in time' thing eventually.
This is a fair warning to anyone who wants to read. I haven’t actually watched the first two seasons in years and never put myself through three and four. To save myself. Love Robin and Eddie and Erika but it’s just not the same. So if you see something and say hey wait a minute that’s not how it- shh. Hush. Silence.

Summary
Crimson lightning broke through the clouds above him, the blue grey sky home to a roiling storm that only seemed to grown in ferocity. Steve was lying in his empty pool, overgrowth of slime and black ichor covered vines crawling up the sides of the pool like spindly fingers reaching out of a grave.
Steve tried to move, his arms and legs shifting in an attempt to get to standing, the confusion and terror settling into his gut as he realized that he was being held in place by the very tendrils that surrounded him. The stench of stagnant and muck filled water filled his nostrils, and the panic at being alone in Upside Down, completely restrained and covered in filth caused the younger boy open his mouth to scream.
The only thing to come from his throat were more vines.
Steve Harrington had hoped that he and his loved ones could continue on with their lives peacefully after Vecna was finally defeated. But a new threat stalks the streets of Hawkins, and nowhere is safe for the Party. As the bodies start to pile up, Steve and Eddie are forced to confront parts of themselves they would rather keep buried. But the past always comes back to bite.

Steve leaned forward until his forehead rested against Eddie’s, his eyes closing as he finally let silent tears fall. He licked his lips before he responded, “Yeah. Yeah, okay.”
“Promise?” Eddie whispered.
Steve nodded again, matching the volume of the other’s voice and saying, “Promise.”
