Summary
Deep down, he can admit he’s a little desperate for human contact. He can admit, on top of that, that he selfishly wants to build trust in any way he can so he can draw information out of the guy later down the line. He also just likes this guy’s company. It’s not like his motivations matter, as long as something good or interesting is the result.
A hand runs to his neck, anxiously tapping a beat into the skin. “I mean… if you’re not opposed to it, you can learn what I look like in another way!”
“ …And how exactly do you suggest I do that?” the blinded man’s eyebrows furrow, confused.
“You know how you feel your way around a room?” he asks, to which the other man slowly, incredulously nods, “well… if you want, I’m not exactly opposed to letting you use your hands to get a better picture of what I look like.” His face burns with embarrassment as the blinded man’s sockets widen, in some sort of shock or disbelief.

Slowly, like, agonizingly slowly, the man lowered his hands from his mouth and actually allowed the Homeowner to get a good look at it. It was… grotesque, to say the least.
Sloppy sewing wired his lips together. There wasn’t much more to say about it. Some stitches lurked dangerously close to the edges of his skin, while others rode up higher than they should. Almost like he was moving around while they were sewed shut.

I always questioned my mortality. Not in a weird way or anything, just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine.
It’s always at the worst times too, or at least what I think as the worst times. When the sun fades far in the distance, the melting heat simmering down to a deathly chill across the dried ground. When the starved dogs came out the woods, burned strained bodies lugging against the cracked ground. Digging only to feed on the dried husks of creatures unlucky enough to have been out in the direct sunlight during the day.
Sometimes I wonder if I should go outside during the day, even just to feel the dry air on my skin once again.

Your friend’s breath hitches audibly in his chest.
Up ahead, crossing the wide road, is what your brain can only describe as a military-level blockade. You watch your friend’s eyes flicker across the scene, appraising, his nostrils flaring with breath that is coming too fast. His knuckles whiten on the steering wheel, then his eyes flicker to you. A breath passes between you two, heavy, scared, and for a moment you see your friend’s leg twitch, as if the muscles in his thighs wish for him to slam down on the gas, crash through the scene ahead like a rocket.
Instead, he brings his foot to the brake and begins to slow. One of the men in hazmat suits is approaching the car.

Summary
The homeowner felt strained, he was no good at communication. Even before this all started he had always been a loner. Displaced from his wife, never leaving the house. His neighbor would come by often, try to make conversation but nothing seemed to stick. When he first invited this stranger into his house he thought nothing of it, it would be the same as it always was. The more he got to know the foreigner the more he felt a connection even if they were never able to fully understand each other.
He figured that the foreigner must've been lonely too, and he was willing to fix that.
