He hates him a little now, for filling that pit with more grief than sweetness these days though.
“Oh,” Makoto’s smile turns shy, blush high on his cheeks and ears.
Hah. Kid.
“I never got to have a boyfriend,” he then says, sounding very sour. He kicks a stray stick. “Fucking zombies.”
“Ah, you never tried dating one? I hear they kiss like they wanna eat you.”
The done look Makoto gives him almost tickles a laugh out of him.
“Sorry,” Katsuki amends, patting him on the shoulder, “Fucking zombies.”

Meanwhile, Midoriya Izuku hit rock bottom months ago. He's pulling himself back to his feet, working shitty jobs with shitty pay and just doing his best to eat most days. At least he's not in debt anymore, though. At least he has a roof over his head.
On Katsuki's way down and on Izuku's way up, they catch each other.

There’s a blur of color and light and Izuku hears shouting close to his ear. Katsuki’s angry voice shouting orders he thinks. Then he’s repositioned onto someone’s back and there’s smaller explosions and wind in his face and everything eventually fades completely to black.
