It was all Cassie’s fault and now the cackle that haunted her whenever the ward got too quiet would come after her mum, and it was all her fault, all because she was blonde and the crazy lady with a knife thought that the blonde hair meant that Cassie shouldn’t exist at all.
She couldn’t wait to never have blonde hair again. Theo said sometimes hair could change when it came back after being gone for a while, and Cassie hoped it would. Maybe it could be brown like her mum’s, maybe straight, but she was okay with her curls, anything, as long as it wasn’t blonde.
