Summary
Over half a century has passed since the fall of the elder brain in Baldur’s Gate and the disappearance of Edmé d’Aurianne-Soares (Tav) into the Shadowfell. In that time, Astarion Ancunín has been able to find himself. Instead of stabbing enemies, he stabs sewing needles into pincushions as a tailor in Waterdeep. Instead of getting out of trouble with charm, he uses his wit to find loopholes in contracts as a lawyer.
But many of his friends and partners have grown old or passed away, and, as nice and busy as Waterdeep can be, Astarion finds himself wanting to see more of the world like he always imagined he would with his freedom.
A couple months ago, Astarion received a letter about two of Cazador Szarr’s other spawn who wanted to reunite. He took that opportunity with a simple trip in mind, only to embark on another journey into the Shadowfell because of suspicious blood trade rumors. There, he finds that old ends weren’t as tied up as he thought. Edmé re-enters his existence unaged, the two of them a lot more similar than they once were.

Summary

He's been hinting that he has something serious to talk to them about for a while and Miss Fortune has been avoiding it out of a fear that the vampire is planning to break things off. Nobody has ever stayed before; why should he be any different?
In the backdrop of the shadow-cursed lands, the two rogues seek to navigate their feelings, their budding relationship, and what it means to love and be loved. Which is no easy feat for two people who for so long have known only sex and violence. Together, Miss Fortune and Astarion begin to rediscover themselves: who they are, what they want, and what kind of life they want to build once they can break the chains of their past once and for all.

There's a cave in the Underdark where not even the most fearless of drow wish to enter. Mothers whisper to their children about that cave, warning them not to venture too close to its mouth. "Yellow-eyed beasts live there," they'd say. "Beasts with the appearance and manner of drow, but don't let their faces deceive you - they're the servants of Vecna, the Whispered One." They tell stories of a young drow who cannot speak, the last of her tribe. The yellow spider. "She's as silent as the wind, as invisible as a shadow. If you ever manage to catch a glimpse of her amber eyes, the last thing you'll see is a bolt of red light, and your soul will part with this world in half a heartbeat."
Most stories for children, of course, are fictitious. But, what most drow mothers don't know is that Sbat'stra Arkentyl is very much alive, and they're also very much tired of said stories. After all, they've got an Illithid parasite to deal with, and six silly idiots to babysit. -

Azure is a teasing bastard, and Minthara hates that she loves her for it.
A Bhaalspawn and a Baenre, whatever could go wrong? Two desperate, broken souls that should've spelled doom upon their union, yet finding consolation in their scars and deflections nonetheless.
In Azure, Minthara learned true devotion; in Minthara, Azure learned what it takes to truly care for someone.
“I can make her worse”, but they ended up (somewhat) fixing each other instead.

The battle is won, the Netherbrain defeated, and Astarion is free. But as he returns to the shadows, someone fails to follow him —his lover, child of Bhaal, condemned to madness by his own father. For weakness, for disobedience, it matters not, Storm is lost. Astarion navigates his grief with Tav's help, and fights for closure.
Chapter 2 snippet
"I'm sorry." Her voice was soft and sincere. "I recon a lot of people have lost someone today."
That was probably true. He didn't really care. What right did they have to complain when Storm had given up his life and no one would ever know? "The city still stands, though."
"Hm. It's a good thing there are still idiots willing to risk their lives for the sake of everybody. Couldn't be me."
He couldn't help but laugh again, somewhat bitterly. It would have never been him either, without Tav, or the looming threat of ceromorphosis.Series

But Jamie's a hero now, a resident Baldurian, and a captive no longer. They live in a townhouse with Astarion, just blocks from many of their friends—friends who are determined to show Jamie what Solstice means. It's not all cozy sweaters and sweet gifts, though. Jamie's hardly the only one who hasn't observed a proper Solstice in ages (or ever), and they're hardly the only one disarmed by unexpected emotions this holiday season.

“This evening has been so very nice,” Tav began, occasionally pausing to kiss the tips of his fingers when they found their way back to their lips.
“But I don’t want to get in trouble… We’re all alone here and it’s already getting so late… So, really, I'd better scurry!” Tav looked up to Gale with big, earnestly concerned eyes, a picture perfect portrayal of innocence, shook off his hands and got up with swaying hips and a happy jump in their steps.
He grinned as he watched how Tav deliberately walked past their discarded stockings and shoes, that was his cue!

Pax always walks the high road. A bard above reproach, if you ask most any who know them. A ray-of-sunshine, they’ve been told, and proud of it.
But they’re also a performer.
Astarion is a performer, too. At least, insomuch as lying is performance, anyway. And he’s seen too much darkness to readily place his trust in the light, anymore, it seems. Especially if that light happens to be a particularly obnoxious spotlight.
In addition to being utterly ridiculous and so very “good” (and dashing! mustn’t forget dashing), however, Pax is surprisingly strong, insightful, and understanding, as well.
Unexpectedly, the perfect recipe to be Astarion’s undoing—or, just maybe, his salvation.

Astarion looks at them strangely.
“You really believe that, don’t you?”
“Well, it wouldn’t make a very compelling story if we all became singleminded brain-eating squid-faces without finding out anything at all about what’s going on. And hope or no hope, I am a believer in a good story—even if I have to make it good myself.”

Astarion must escape from Cazador at any cost. He hadn't known a moment's peace in two hundred years from the constant compulsion drawing him back to his master, until stumbling across a tavern that seemed to have appeared overnight on the busy streets of the Upper City. Curiosity getting the better of him, he steps inside and the life he knew before is entirely uprooted. Daring to hope for the first time in two hundred years, could the charming and mischievous Aasimar barkeep with a tavern packed with secrets be the key to his freedom? Or will the celestial descendent see him as he has come to see himself; a monster in need of putting down.
This is a plot focused story with heavy, feral open door romance and fluff to balance out a fraction of the trauma this fic will entail. Consider it a fast burn in terms of smut but a slow burn for a true relationship, similar to the game.

They try to keep their secrets and their newly cherished friendship, but they soon realize they cannot keep both; and when those secrets drive them from Waterdeep, not even their memories may remain behind. That didn’t sound good at all. Huffing out a breath through her nose, Karlach pointed back towards the camp, about to turn about before she heard Nyx call her name, turning her head over her shoulder to look at her friend who only seemed to grin, eyes glinting with mischief that was unique only to them.

Karlach hears some odd noises in the forest around the camp and decides to investigate as a good friend does.
