“’Morning,” Mike grumbled, voice low from sleep.
“Noon,” Max corrected, as if she hadn’t only woken up thirty minutes before him.
“Wow,” he replied, squinting at the light. “Nobody thought to wake me?”
It happened casually after that, so casually it almost didn’t register at first. El laughed at something Lucas said, then turned toward Mike and leaned in, instinctively, easily, pressing a kiss to his lips like it was the most logical way to say good morning to him.

or: Mike and Will have been together for a year and a half when El comes back. The problem is, El assumes she and Mike are still together. The bigger problem is that Mike doesn’t realize Will thinks he might choose her.

Summary
The sorcerer Will Byers had lost his love. The prince and secret knight in training, had fallen into a deep slumber, due to a curse that has been casted on him by a man long gone from capturing. Every night, Will would sneak in and try every spell possible to awaken his lover, unfortunately nothing has come from it. He turned to the dark magic, but for the spell to work he needed another version of Mike in his clutches, luckily for Will, a portal had opened up to the aftermath of the Mac-Z battle, giving him the opportunity to snatch that Mike away from his timeline. Our Will, immediately suspicious of his other self, will stop at nothing to protect his best friend he is secretly in love with.

It was Will. Will Byers.Steve gawked at the image in front of him while Will almost fainted upon seeing himself, it was like looking in the mirror, but the reflection that stared back at him was a bit different. The other Will took no mind at the shocked silence and made eye contact with Mike, who stared back at him flabbergasted.

or: it's the '90s, and Will Byers is going to get married to Carlton; it's more of a promise because it's not legal, of course. Yet Will is happy, and so is Mike. They're best friends after all. Until Will overhears a conversation and discovers that Mike has been in love with him for ages. It shouldn't change a thing (especially on his 'wedding day'). It changes everything anyway.
