Mirabel couldn’t remember the last time she had shared a room with Isabela; in fact, she doubted they ever had at any point. They rarely even locked eyes. Much less did they speak to each other for anything other than starting a fight, or simply throwing arrows of irony. They didn’t hug and they didn’t share secrets; the possibility of them ever being in the same room without arguing didn't exist. Although, over the years, she had learned not to fully trust her memory. At this point, she felt she was the most unreliable narrator of everything that had happened in her life. And truly, it was for good reason.
But one day, they had to sleep in the same room. There's no Casita, just a room in the neighbor's house for both of them. And the things they never tell each other came to the light.
