Summary
Pyro knew as soon as Scott had entered the castle alone that he was going to kill them. Scott wasn't predictable, and Pyro had never been great at reading him, but the look in their Sire's eyes was too dark for it to mean anything else.
Scott had said before that he understood what they did, that he saw himself in Pyro. They hadn't believed him for a second, even though it was all they had wanted to hear. The elder vampire's tone was too blank for it to have been genuine.
So, even then, Pyro had known Scott would kill them.

Summary
Pyro sits quietly in the library, trying as hard as he can to fade into the background. Scott and Avid were just a few bookshelves away, but neither had noticed his presence yet.
Pyro knew that Scott was never his, but hearing Scott be so gentle and enabling towards Avid's incessant chatter made something bitter and scared curl up in his gut.

Summary
Pyro doesn't see Shelby again for two weeks after her turning. It isn't for a lack of trying, but it seems that Scott is much too busy training her as his fledgling to let them hang out. They don't want to think Scott is keeping them away from each other on purpose, but without Scott and Shelby’s presence, Pyro is completely alone.
Scott forbade them from leaving the castle grounds for their own safety. While Pyro doesn't want to find themself stuck with the members of town after everything, being stuck in the dreary crypt bedroom Scott left to them was unbearably dull.

Summary
The day had barely started, and Shelby was already feeling giddy. That week had been a good one, having made good progress on her next book and spending some quality time with both Scott and Drift. They all met up fairly often, but it was always nice to be able to hang out with people she thought of as family.
That wasn't what her excitement was from though. Abolish had reached out to her again, a letter tucked away in a sealed envelope. It had her name on front in big swooping letters, and if she didn't know that her heart had stopped long ago, she thought it would have right then and there.
