Scott watches Pyro tremble beneath him, pinned to the ground, unable to get away with Scott's weight settled firmly on top of them. It had been an easy chase, almost pathetically so.
He knew already that Pyro wasn't a fighter, but they hadn't lasted even five minutes with Scott on their tail. Of course, that was at night where Pyro had no way to see where they were going. Even now, Scott knows Pyro can barely see the forest around them, the only light being that from the blood moon beaming down on them.

Pyro knew as soon as Scott had entered the castle alone that he was going to kill them. Scott wasn't predictable, and Pyro had never been great at reading him, but the look in their Sire's eyes was too dark for it to mean anything else.
Scott had said before that he understood what they did, that he saw himself in Pyro. They hadn't believed him for a second, even though it was all they had wanted to hear. The elder vampire's tone was too blank for it to have been genuine.
So, even then, Pyro had known Scott would kill them.

Pyro knew that Scott was never his, but hearing Scott be so gentle and enabling towards Avid's incessant chatter made something bitter and scared curl up in his gut.

Pyro doesn't see Shelby again for two weeks after her turning. It isn't for a lack of trying, but it seems that Scott is much too busy training her as his fledgling to let them hang out. They don't want to think Scott is keeping them away from each other on purpose, but without Scott and Shelby’s presence, Pyro is completely alone.
Scott forbade them from leaving the castle grounds for their own safety. While Pyro doesn't want to find themself stuck with the members of town after everything, being stuck in the dreary crypt bedroom Scott left to them was unbearably dull.

He had forgone chains, and he wouldn't be using a muzzle unless Kevin proved himself dangerous, but he had made sure the room would hold Kevin safely.
He might be going on a rescue mission of sorts, but he wasn't going to put himself in danger to help a traumatized vampire. He wasn't that selfless.

The strode lights wash over him, and Kevin wishes he was more drunk than he is.
The air is hot, the movement of bodies all around the nightclub unsettling him in a way he doesn't usually let it. Kevin, despite his career, didn't like crowds. Most times he was able to push the discomfort down and then get drunk enough that he didn't have the presence of mind to be bothered by it.
It wasn't working this time, the alcohol in his system only serving to make things worse.

Owen didn't anticipate ever opening himself up to anyone else. Even after meeting the doctor, he never thought he would get attached. Sometimes it felt like a betrayal, but then Legundo would look down at him with a kindness that rivaled Louis, and Owen knew he wasn't going to let go.

Pyro wishes he could say that he was surprised when he was called to his father's study. If it had been the usual song and dance of the Von Pyroscythe residence, he would have been.
His parents rarely sought him out or even gave him the time of day when it wasn't to keep up appearances. Pyro still clung onto those moments, no matter how disingenuous, but this wasn't that. Mother and father wouldn't have bothered calling him home from university if it was.
So, when his father told him to meet him, Pyro already had a sinking feeling that things were going to go wrong.
