Between the bells of his dark hair that hung down when he embraced Ying Lei, and went to brush against the strands of golden hair, flowing from one to the other. Between Zhuo Yichen's tears, shed even after so much time, and Ying Lei's tears, shed too soon. -

Summary
The man had a great body. That was just a fact. Zhao Yunlan was comfortable in his sexuality to normally admit such things, but this was Lin Jing they were talking about. They were coworkers. He was annoying too, something Zhao Yunlan was reminded of almost every time the man opened his mouth. Also, Zhao Yunlan would bet extra bonuses for the entire department that if Lin Jing was at all interested in any sort of hook up (which Zhao Yunlan definitely didn’t want), that the man would be a top. Zhao Yunlan knew what he liked and when he was younger he had his own share of awkward make outs that lead nowhere because of realized incompatible preferences. He did not need to relive those moments now, especially not with Lin Jing. He’d trust his gaydar on this one.
To Zhao Yunlan's panic, Zhu Hong didn't seem willing to let it go and just watch him be grumpy and frustrated over something he didn't want to do anything about. She took it as a personal mission.
The hardest part was perhaps how oblivious Lin Jing was to all of this. Especially when they had a murder case that always happened on Halloween, and now it was approaching again. -

Gong Shangjue has been having a very, very weird day. Some of the minor Gong family outposts have been raided, pointing to an inner conflict in the making, or a bigger attack that was about to follow. He hadn't even started investigating those matters after he got the news, when a series of quarrels nearly set the Gong residence aflame - quite literally. Gong Ziyu has had yet another fight with his father after an especially eventful night at the brothel, turning their morning into a gossip heaven for the whole residence. Now, more than half a day later, a bunch of scared maids were running back and forth with buckets of water, someone was shouting, seemingly losing it while accusing none other than Gong Yuanzhi of arson and a murder attempt and whatnot, which, in itself, was hilarious.

It’s hard to discern the details of Ying Lei’s face in the moonlight, but Zhuo Yichen can see enough to tell he stopped crying a while ago. He just looks a little soft, a little lost. Ying Lei is the sort of creature that is not suited for heavy emotions, Zhuo Yichen finds, not meant for sadness and grief.
