“No, no,” Childe hisses frantically. He glances down at his trembling hands and— sickly violet twists around his forearms like an ugly vine. Whatever this affliction is, it's interfering with his abyssal energy.
There’s no time to fret over it. Though numb panic sears through his nerves, Childe forces himself into motion, keeping his exhausted body moving through the next wave of attacks. Now aware of it, Childe can sense the corruption within him. It whispers in the back of his mind, it seeps into his bloodstream, it makes his limbs heavy as lead. Pure spite keeps him from succumbing.
Abruptly, the entity before him pulls out a lantern. Childe feels a gravitational shift as it begins to glow. Around him, the Wild Hunt summons begin to writhe. One by one they dissipate into fodder for the flames, the lantern growing ever and ever brighter. With resignation, too tired to move, Childe braces himself for the blow. The concentration of bright light peaks, and even behind closed eyes Childe can see the flare of it —
— but the impact he expects never comes.

Summary
Due to a disturbance in the leylines, Zhongli finds himself forced to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. Unable to control himself and at risk of hurting himself, should he speak of something he'd contracted to keep secret, and with little other options available, the Traveler hides him away in their teapot to ride it out while they figure out a fix.
They also recruit Childe to keep an eye on him, mostly because he's the best suited person for the job, but also, undeniably, because they're sick and tired of watching these two pine for the last four years.

“I am told,” she begins, in the voice of someone who has had exactly enough, “that you are sleeping with my Harbinger.”
Childe wheezes beside him.
Zhongli—because he has no shame and no survival instinct whatsoever—straightens, smiles politely, and says, “I would not call it sleeping, Your Majesty.”
Childe actively dies.
A voice from the corner whispers, “Oh my god,” followed by a terrified Fatui agent fainting into a decorative pillar.
Zhongli continues, calm as a relic in a museum that’s never seen war: “It is more accurate to say that we engage in frequent cohabitation and occasional, enthusiastic ritualistic bonding activities. Of a horizontal nature.”
In which Childe learns that introducing your ancient, elegant boyfriend to your terrifying ice-mother-queen is not as great as it sounds.

The second time, Childe grinds against him in a Liyue alleyway, all feral grins and murmured filth, and Zhongli, who has endured millennia of warfare and cataclysm, is forced to admit he might not survive this.
The third time, well—
“Zhongli, babe, you’re looking at me like I’m a half-priced artifact set and I just wanna say—I’m flattered, really—but let’s be real, if you wanted a piece, you could’ve just said so,” Childe purrs, leaning against a pillar in the Wangshu Inn, shirt unbuttoned to the fourth degree of depravity.
