Summary
A cool, slender hand is on his face, slim fingers tracing the tear tracks; from the hazy shadows, a pale face is barely visible. The hand doesn’t feel threatening, and if someone managed to sneak past security to take him out, they should have done it before waking him up. Assured by this thought–and the familiar shapes of Moneyshot nestled under his pillow, Valentino slowly reaches to the nightstand to retrieve his glasses. They aren’t there. His guest, whoever it is that’s brazen enough to come into his fucking room at this unholy hour, has been kind enough to put the glasses in place.
In an instant, the room comes into focus, and with it, the nondescript pale face snaps into detail. The smile is the most terrible and glorious thing Valentino has seen in a long time: a warm and loving curve sharpened at the edges like a blade–the kind you keep close, the best of friends in bad times, but easily turned into an enemy if you neglect or misplace it. Sharp and deadly as it is, the smile reaches the purple hue dancing across all eight eyes, a flame stunning in its beauty, and promising to scald the skin straight to the bone.
“...Papi?” Valentino whispers. “A…Anthony…?”

The knot in Angel’s throat tightens–he doesn’t know where he was expecting to find Val, in all honesty, he was hoping he would have just left the studio entirely. He would’ve taken a break just as instructed, calmed himself down, redone his makeup and convinced himself that it was purely a business move on Val’s part and that he wouldn’t come back. The problem with Val was that he never let the lies Angel told himself live for very long. He always found a way to cut them at the root.
“Why the fuck did you come here?” Angel instinctively wraps the robe around himself. It’s a pale blue, it’s stiff, itchy, plain, nothing like the luxurious ones he always wore around Val’s studio.
“Business.” Val spits the word like a curse and lights his cigarette, but doesn’t stand up.
“Bullshit.”

If Angel calls for him, he'll step in.
He will. He's not fucking heartless. Velvette called him a doormat earlier and she's fucking wrong, he just knows when to pick his battles, and this is a real boundary he will enforce. Vox isn't allowed to break Val's things.
Angel just has to call for him.
A shrill scream cracks in the air and Valentino flinches, half jolting towards the motel door, before realizing that it was just the storm. Fucking scream rain. He worries the tip of his thumb at the junction between his phone and the case, fiddling with the blunt plastic, resisting the childish urge to chew on his nails.
It's fine. He's being stupid.
Or: Vox leaves Valentino to pick up the pieces of his latest brainwashing session. Valentino takes Angel home.
