Ivan ignored the voice, continuing to mush his face with his hands as he stared at his reflection in the water.
“I said, what are you doing?”
Ivan pulled too hard and winced. His cheek was still sore after Till punched it a few days ago. He didn’t know why, seeing as all he did was destroy a wreath of cameras that Till presented to him, but that was alright. He kind of liked how it felt.
“Hey!” A brown hand clamped around his wrist and yanked, forcing Ivan to pay attention to its owner. An older girl was frowning at him, her blue eyes (dull, nowhere near as bright as Till’s—) zeroing in on his face. “Are you hurt? Is that why you’re ignoring me?”

It’s been a few years since the summer Hikaru died. ‘Hikaru’ eventually put his monstrous instincts under control, despite still feeling them deep inside. He and his best friend finished high school and, when Yoshiki passed in Tokyo University to study biology, ‘Hikaru’ decided to follow him to the capital as well.
The privacy of being in a city as big as Tokyo, away from the prying eyes of the village, changes their dynamic entirely. 'Hikaru' can now read Yoshiki like an open book, and his teasing nature leads him to take advantage of his best friend until he breaks. Specially after some dirty dreams.

“….and where did Maki say he got them from?” Yoshiki punctuates his statement with wide eyes and growing concern.

If Hikaru is a monster to the letter, then Yoshiki is a monster by nature.
This selfishness, this repulsiveness that he shamefully hides under a veneer of aloofness, is nothing but what he truly is at his core. For the longest time, he has made his absolute best effort to pretend otherwise, to turn his face from the truth, to portray himself as anything but what he truly is.
But by the same metric that Hikaru isn’t the same friend he spent his whole childhood with, Yoshiki is nothing but the culmination of everything he tries to conceal, and regardless of how much he tries to deny it, he knows himself better than anyone.
And if he can believe that there’s salvation for a monster like Hikaru , then surely there must be salvation, too, for a monster like Yoshiki.
Or: TSHD/JJK Crossover - Nobara and Megumi are sent to Kubitachi to exorcise a Curse and cross paths with Hikaru and Yoshiki.

Benimaru overhears the hikeshi talk about setting up an omiai (marriage meeting) for Konro. He's bothered for some reason but can't explain why. Konro is bothered because he can't help Beni unless Beni tells him what's wrong. Shinbeita looks at them and wonders if they're codependent.
Chaos ensues (in their minds). Sometimes it's hard to be honest about your feelings, especially if you know that the person you want the best for, would willingly go along with your selfishness.
Or: Beni is dense but decisive. Konro is in denial and pretends he's denser than he really is. Feelings are complicated!
