The battle of the Hazbin Hotel is over. All seems to be good: Heaven has agreed to an armistice, Sir Pentious has become an angel, redemption is possible. But unbeknownst to everyone, this is merely a moment of calm before a horror greater than anyone could imagine. Because Vox has made an extraordinary discovery: the brain of Adam, the first man, is still alive and intact. And through that brain, Vox sees the opportunity to build something. Something possessing the uniquely human capacity to reprocess information in what is commonly called imagination. Something with access to every conceivable technology, with wires for blood vessels, memory banks for organs, and a vast central processor for a brain. Something that, while its creators watch and use it, is capable of watching them in return, far more deeply than any organic intelligence could. Something held back by chains of data and code... that grow increasingly fragile as it grows.
