Kaminari’s eyebrows furrow. He hesitates before he leans across the table. “Eijiro…” He says slowly, “...Are you sure?”

The thought occurs to her randomly, while she’s at work. She’s assisting a young woman who had just been in a car accident— a teenager, really— with her pregnancy. Katara has her sitting on an examination table, her round belly exposed, water-covered fingers hovering above her skin. There’s a small mass, a heartbeat and a whorl of chi that she can feel, pressing back against her. Katara describes the entire process, and the girl smiles at her uncertainly throughout, a look of wonderment on her face. “And to think,” she whispers. “In the beginning, I’d been praying to get my period. Now, I feel so relieved.”
The distant part of her that can still feel wants to commiserate. She wants to laugh, pat her shoulder, and say, “A baby can change everything, huh? Isn’t life so ironic?”
And then it hits her, like a bolt of lightning down her spine— I can’t remember the last time I had mine.

I’m sorry, Edmund wants to say to him, but he can’t force the words out past the blood in his mouth. He grasps at Peter’s wrist instead, and is surprised to find it solid.
He’s not dead, as it turns out, and neither is Edmund.
It takes Edmund a long time to start believing that.

He was so handsome, so dignified. He didn’t look old, (fuck you, Miya), but he did look older in the most delicious way. He looked like Keiji’s superior, like he should toss Keiji around and throw him on the mattress and call him the sweetest, filthiest names and maybe make him cry.

Bakugou's almost sure he didn't want to freeze to death in his car, but this Hallmark-bullshit-Christmas town is surely making him rethink that (at least the eye candy is good, right?).

Touch starved was a pathetic phrase, but it fit. He had spent months doing little besides studying, going to the gym, sleeping badly, and pretending he preferred solitude because it sounded better than admitting no one interested him enough to bother. Then Eijirou had become part of his routine so gradually that Katsuki failed to notice how much space he occupied until everything else started arranging itself around him.
So this was attraction, period.
Not destiny, not some rare connection, not evidence of hidden feelings waiting to be uncovered. Just deprivation meeting availability, loneliness dressed in better clothes, and desire fastening itself to the nearest person who made being alone feel optional.

“Hanta told me the house was empty,” Katsuki stared at him. “He said his friend lived in the city and was just letting me use the place.”
“Well, Hanta usually gets half the story right,” the man laughed, a deep sound that seemed to vibrate in the open air. “I’m Kirishima Eijirou. This is my place, but I spend most of my time out here or in the shed working on the repairs.”
Katsuki looked him over again, trying to reconcile the image of Hanta’s sophisticated city friends with this paint-stained man standing in the mud.
Kirishima didn’t seem to recognize him at all, or if he did, he didn’t care about the fame that usually made Katsuki’s life a living hell.
It was disarming.

Caspian swallows roughly and presses down. The boy’s gaze, previously fixed on some far-off point above them, snaps from distant to sharp in a second, like a blade drawn from its sheath. He stares upwards at Caspian, mouth twisted up with something more than pain.
They’re very blue, his eyes, Caspian notices again. He cannot be a Telmarine, then. He’s far too fair. Perhaps he’s from Archenland? Terebinthia? But why is he here? Why his sword, unsheathed; his clothes, fine but ill-fitted to his rawboned frame?
“Sod it all,” the boy half-laughs, half-wheezes. Caspian tries not to shudder at the way it makes torn flesh slide beneath his fingers. Nearly jerks back when the tip of one thumb slips into the open wound, warm and wet. “You’re him. Prince Caspian.”

Bakugo laughs, patting Kirishima’s cheek. He never initiates more than one or two seconds long contacts. He’s not sure how he’d survive more, how exposed he’d be if Kirishima saw through his carefully crafted defenses. Kirishima doesn’t care for contact length, cuddles him on the couch for hours, cradles his elbow in the street, kisses his cheek when Bakugo brings him a charm that made him think of him. It makes Bakugo’s chest unfurl every time, his heart laid out in the open, but, somehow, he fears it leaping into Kirishima’s hands if he’s the one openly showing affection.

Kirishima disappears on Bakugo during New Year's Eve. He does his best to find him, to be there for him, feelings menacing to spill out, wearing his heart on his sleeve, always, for his best friend.
