“You saved me, Will” he whispered. Will looked up at him, their eyes meeting. His eyes…Mike figured he could drown in those eyes and still never get enough of them.
Will was so close to him. Their faces were only inches from each other, if he leaned forward any closer they would touch. And oh how he wanted to. It wouldn’t be hard. To bring Will’s lips to his. It would be so easy.
Mike was so lost in this idea, that he didn’t notice the vines creeping towards them. He didn’t notice it snaking around Will’s ankle. He didn’t see the way it moved up to his back, settling just near the center of the boy’s stomach.

When Will Byers is killed just moments after unlocking his powers, Mike's world is destroyed.

Love wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Mike has always known this. Whispers of sweet affection surround his life, like needles pushing into his skin. He knew what he felt was wrong, the love that he felt wasn’t natural. But Will. Will was a different story, and always has been. Nobody has invoked this sense in him, these thoughts flood his mind. The thoughts that rush through his head, a lot of those thoughts would never see the light of day, never being told to a soul. Mike would do anything for Will, and he truly means anything.basically yandere/obsessed mike

There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.
Mike understands, though. Mike has been paying attention.
