They did not talk about the last time they had both been in a pond.
Hans felt it anyway, the reminder of failure. The weight of ghosts. He pivoted them to face the bank, just in case, and talked Henry through learning to buoy himself in the cold water.

"I know who he is, Henry, you've sung his praises enough the whole way over here," Hans said, accepting Barnaby's short bow with a gracious nod and a wave to be at ease with his free hand.
So this was Henry's lord! Barnaby had been right; Henry's eyes shone with adoration when he looked at the man, even moreso than when he had merely talked about him. And Hans, despite his teasing, smiled at Henry, whole face lighting up, eyes crinkling at the edges when Henry smiled back.
They were in love.
Or: A meeting in a (literal) storm, another before a figurative one, and Henry brings his love to the herbalist after it's all died down.

Panic coiled in Rhosynel’s chest, as two things became apparent. Firstly, that she could easily end up roped into travelling further on the whims of a wizard. And secondly, that if word reached her employer that she point-blank refused Lord Elrond, she’d be kicked from the Messenger services.
In other words, Rhosynel was trapped.*
Working as a messenger Rhosynel is accustomed to travelling the length and breadth of Middle Earth, so carrying a missive to the village of Bree should have been easy. But this simple task sets off a chain of events, entangling her in the lives of strangers and the fate of Middle Earth, which leaves her fighting to keep both them, and herself, alive.

Summary
Gravely wounded at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, Éowyn is confined to the Houses of Healing for ten long days. Rest is demanded of her, while her thoughts remain fixed beyond the walls: on the war yet unfinished, and on Aragorn, whom she believes her heart is bound to follow.
In the same quiet halls, Faramir lies recovering from wounds of both body and soul. Amid grief, disillusionment, and the slow work of healing, he finds an unexpected solace in Éowyn’s presence.
As days pass, Faramir’s affection deepens into tender love. Éowyn, however, sees him only as a companion in recovery. But when the time comes to leave the Houses of Healing, and Faramir departs from her, she finds a gaping loss she cannot explain.
