Sam was the sort of guy that could charm the marshalls one minute, and bond with the techs the next. He'd never bothered turning the charisma on for Bucky, though. With Bucky, he was the most obnoxious version of himself. Abrasive, irritating, arrogant, reckless. Utterly unlikable.
Which was why it was so fucking weird that Bucky liked Sam as much as he did.

There was an intimacy to this that Steve had never had before. They slept in the same bed sometimes, sharing warmth in the winter, and it was hard to have any kind of privacy in such a tiny apartment. But this felt bigger than that, somehow. Maybe it was the unthinking trust in the way Bucky let Steve move his head, or just the fact that Steve had never combed anyone else's hair, let alone for someone he cared about so much.

The light from the door cracking open blinds him, and Katsuki squeezes his eyes shut against it. He turns his head and ducks into his own shoulder.
It’s not hard to do, with the position he’s in. Hands bound above his head and to the wall—and together, of course, so his own Quirk is turned against him. He’d blow his hands off at the wrists if he tried (not that he hasn’t thought about it anyway. Sitting alone in the dark will do that to you).
Now, eyes still shut against the brightness, he can hear the distinctive pad of bare feet on concrete. That clears up who it is, even without his sight. “Deku,” he rasps, and then carefully slits his eyes open.
Or: A conversation in the dark, in which nothing is resolved and nothing gets better.

Deku had blood running down his face.
Katsuki froze, arm not fully extended. He'd though Deku must have been crying, that he got snot everywhere.
"Thanks," Deku said, taking the towel. He held it up to his nose, where his hand had been. He had scuffs on his arms, bruises forming on his face, visible now that it was light.

His body begged him to rest, to slow down, and allow others to take care of his mess for once, but Ed had never been the best at looking after himself. It took a little bit more than a day for him to finally listen – he visited Al with the explicit goal of falling asleep next to his brother, his bed big enough for the two of them just this once.
Unaware of how dangerous his injuries from the Promised Day are, Ed waits too long to go see a doctor. In the end a few hours can make the difference between life and death.

When Edward Elric had heard his father had died, the very first thing he thought was, "about damn time." The man was as old as dirt itself; no one was supposed to live that long. So for that purpose he was relieved. It was just everything that came after. As it turned out, Hohemheim had left most of his things to him, not Alphonse. Theoretically it made sense, but meant that he had to haul his ass all the way from America to England. He had dragged his feet for as long as he could with it until he had an angry phone conversation with Al. At 3 in the morning.

What none of the doctors in Central can tell about Alphonse's body's stint in limbo is the long-term consequences.
"Muscular atrophy, doubtlessly," the doctor says, and his eyes slip down to Ed's right arm, gaunt and incongruous with the rest of his body. "You're probably realising what that is like, yourself. You'll also have to go through physical rehabilitation."
Humorlessly and a tad sardonic, Ed thinks that Truth really had a bone to pick with them.
Or: Alphonse wakes up in the hospital, the night after Promised Day, having to deal with a freshly-returned body and all which that entails.
