    “You want to be good for me, then?”

    The energy between them snaps taught as piano wire. Jayce looks at Viktor with open wonder, his mouth falling open. It’s as if he’s been seen for the first time, though now that he’s said it Viktor finds the idea laughably obvious. A man who sought out someone whose life he could improve doesn’t do that for nothing. Viktor is so relieved to find something self-serving under Jayce’s idealism.

    “I would,” Jayce says, his voice a strained whisper.

    this was an insane ride when i clicked in mostly for the smut, oml--
    that ending was done so SO well!
    usually, i tend feel a little aimless when its hurt/no comfort, bittersweet, no HHE/resolution etc. between the main pair.
    i can get on board with it for SURE like, "yeah, this makes sense tonally; sure maybe i didnt feel like i got *full* closure but i like what was done with the story- hell it might fit better than working everything out!"
    i was worried about the length of my scroll bar at the climax of the fight after vik talked to finn in the kitchen, usually thats about the place other pieces ive read would end. poof- walks out the door; "bye!"
    but omg when i tell you i went throguh all 5 stages of grief in those last few scenes- it genuinely settled something in my chest. BEAUTIFUL! STUNNING. i hope you're proud of your art because i'm glad i got the opportunity to read it. ♡

    side note - god i invested so hard into this midway when i realised how good the character and scene writing was, only to see just now the sequel hasn't been updated in a year T~T STILL GLAD I READ IT THO! INSTA SUBBING ♡♡♡ -- i really hope you continue this one day. this was a gem to find and i'll be rereading it many times in the future ♡♡
