Summary
Ilya barely manages to swerve in time to avoid turning the Hollander-Marleau collision into a three-man pileup. He watches as Marleau stands up and apologizes to Shane — Ilya has no idea if it was a clean hit, but from Marleau’s face, he’s pretty sure it was accidental. And then Ilya waits for Shane to get up.
He doesn’t move.
Marleau glances at him as Ilya skates up to Shane, putting a hand on his shoulder as he says, “Hollander?” When he gets no response, he says it again, this time louder and with a steadily rising sense of dread. “Hollander, come on, get up.”

The bell over the door jingled and a gust of icy wind blew into his shop, making Szymon look up to see a small, ashen-haired girl march in, pulling along a much larger man who was immediately identifiable by his golden eyes and two swords as a witcher. The witcher had hair of the same colour, though Szymon was fairly sure he’d heard witchers were sterile, and he didn’t seem at all enthusiastic to be here.
“I would like two pairs of ice skates,” the girl declared with an air about her that made it clear she was used to being obeyed. Her bearing was almost regal in the way she tilted her chin up, which was a sharp contrast to her clumsily-stitched leather jerkin and trousers. After a beat, she added, “Please.”

Ilya almost dropped his cigarette. His English was shitty, but he had studied that sentence enough times over the years to understand it immediately. He didn't even think about his words much anymore, but it was impossible to avoid them.
He turned instinctively, and was face to face with Shane fucking Hollander.
Out of almost seven billion people, of course Ilya's soulmate had to be his fated rival. It was almost poetic. Still, Ilya had enough sense to realize just how bad this was.
or, Shane says Ilya's soulmate words. Ilya vows to never speak a word to him to keep him from finding out. They fall in love anyway.
