    “You’re not the birdy I’m looking for.” The man’s grin fades as he takes in the scene, slumping out of his triumphant stance with a disgruntled moan.
    “I’m sorry, Duke, I’m gonna have to call you back. A clown just kicked my door down. For some reason,” Danny says into his phone, before hanging up and dropping it onto the counter next to him, despite Duke’s protests. He’s starting to get the impression that this isn’t the lighthearted joke he thought it was. He turns his attention towards the clown. “And you’re not the pizza delivery boy. Or, at least, I hope you’re not. Won’t be ordering from them again if you are.”

    When Danny finds a box just outside of his brand new Gotham apartment, he thinks nothing of it... until he opens it up to find a crushed taxidermy bird inside and a weird note signed only by a J. And then his door is kicked in by a clown. Why can't his life ever be simple?

    Everyone is moving on while Danny can’t. The anti-ecto cuffs trapping him inside his own body and his parents hunting him through the forest in the dead of night don’t help, either.

    Danny would like to say for the record that it was not his fault.

    In fact, Danny would say that it was entirely Clockwork's fault. After all, he wouldn't even be in this situation if it wasn't for that cryptic time god.

    But what was his fault was the fact that he kept helping.

    He kept taking the cash from the assholes messing with the residents who lived in the area (and damn there were a lot of assholes near where he lived). He kept accepting their offers of food. So because of this new routine that kept him able to afford to rent out his shitty (and possibly illegal) apartment and the hunger pangs sufficiently satisfied, rumors grew.

    tldr; after Clockwork dropped of Danny in Gotham he tries to make the best out of the situation which includes helping out some people. Except along the way that led to rumors that he was an up-and-coming crime boss. A rumor he was largely unaware of.

    Basically, Kryptonite has an ectosignature and Danny figures out how to block it.

    This is based off of the idea that Ectoplasm is the essence of death and a bit is released when a person died. When Krypton was destroyed, there was enough ectoplasm released that it soaked into the debris of the planet. Kryptonians are so affected because those rocks physically and supernaturally remind them of the death of their people and the possibility of their own deaths.
