"I'm never happy." Zuko answers.
Sokka huffs, placing his hands in his pockets as he stands tall and proud. "Oh, then I won't shut up." He squeaks as Zuko pushes him down, his arms locked with his hands on his pockets, failing to balance him.
"Now, I'm happy." Zuko says, looking at him with amusement before turning around to leave. Sokka follows his back with his eyes, contemplating on what to do next.
Spirits, this could go horribly wrong.
But does Sokka care? Not really. The Universe has already fucked up his life to this point, what's another?

Zuko snorted. Yeah, there is no way Hahn was making any progress with Sokka, especially considering the fact that Sokka hated him. And wow does Hahn reek of misogyny.
He must have snorted louder than he thought, because Hahn whipped around at the sound. “Got something to say, Ambassador?” he asked, his tone sickeningly sweet, for just as Zuko hated Hahn, Hahn hated Zuko.
Zuko took a long sip of water before turning to face him, a wide, fake smile on his face. “Actually, yeah,” he remarked. “I can’t help but notice that you’re talking about Sokka as if he were an object and not a person?”

Because suddenly, it all made sense- he was wearing a rainbow friendship bracelet, holding another guy’s hand, talking about the apartment they lived in together and the cat they shared, and the tattoo artist thought they were-
“So, are you guys close?” Suki’s voice was nonchalant, as if she was just asking about the weather and not if they were dating, but it still sounded like a death sentence to him.
Especially when Sokka- a genius with degrees in both astrophysics and aerospace engineering, as well as minors in math and chemistry- completely missed the unspoken question and responded easily, as if it was nothing, “Yeah, of course we are. That’s why I asked him to come.”

He didn’t even know if they could have conversations like their letters in real life. What if they were better as pen pals, letting the words spill onto the page, than as actual in-person companions? What if they finally saw each other only to have awkward silences and stammering small talk?
