He held his hands to his ears, loud ringing blocking out any of the shouts coming from his classmates. Bakugou and the rest of his class had been training, he got paired up with Shouto and they had gone all out. As Bakugou was about to blast his training partner’s face, he had made the stupid move of accidently slipping on a piece of half melted ice. His blast ricocheted straight back into his face. That was the last thing he remembered, the very distant sound of classmates shouting, the smell of burnt flesh, the taste of iron in his mouth before he collapsed onto the floor.

After the war, everyone does their best to return to normal. However much they try, though, there's always that air of difference, now that they've seen the darkest parts of being a hero. They're recovering, and now in their third year, they have something to look forward to: Graduation.
Katsuki has big plans in place, already researching and preparing starting his own agency as soon as possible, though he too is still suffering from the affects of the war. It doesn't help when a quirk accident throws a wrench into his plans, straining his mental health and his relationships.

katsuki had always enjoyed literature, the study of it, the analysis. he never brought it up, and no one ever asked, because what business did a kid like him have with books?
his most beloved trope was those with the misguided main characters, the hard-to-deal-with, bullheaded ones who took all those 'negatives' and channeled them towards becoming heroes. great heroes. one of katsuki's personal favorites was achilles; he turned the tide of the trojan war.
as he grew older, katsuki convinced himself he could become an influential hero like achilles. but achilles's story was a tragedy, one that began to look far too similar to katsuki's life—he could not forgo his anger, a dear childhood friend—he decided the only way to stop izuku (and himself) from reaching the fate of patroclus and achilles, was to distance himself from izuku, through whatever harsh means necessary. izuku would be grateful, later, when the "surrogate fate" passed him over.
if only katsuki had realized he was not the protagonist sooner. if only he could stop the sun from burning out.

She froze, poker halted over her head for the worst strike yet. Her gaze bore into Katsuki. He hung to her attention like a lifeline. “Torture me instead,” he repeated, keeping his hoarse voice as calm as possible. “Come on, you know you want to see what it’s like to torture one of the best three in my damn class. Well, here I fucking am! You want entertainment? You want revenge? I’m the one you fucking want.”
In his experience, ‘entertainment’ was often in the form of breaking people’s will when it came to villains.
She wanted to break them, and she wanted to have fun with it. Katsuki would be a challenge she couldn't help herself from taking on.

It pretty much goes as you would expect; horribly. With a torturer as their kidnapper, no clues about their whereabouts whatsoever to the outside world and time quickly running out, they'll need as much luck as they can get to escape... let alone survive.
