Summary
Marya Junková could mark the periods of her life by fire - both when it burned and when it went dark.
Her early years in Scrapsylvania had been a gray smudge. When Comfrey MacLeod found her, scooped her out of the scrap, the professor ignited a fire, one that burned fiercely during Marya’s time as a wind rider.
The flames leapt higher when she flew the Kingfisher. It was only in the fires of Straka that her own light withered.
The dark was all she knew for many years, rotting in the scrap. Until familiar faces, some old, some new, called her back to the sky.
Slowly, ever so slowly, the fire had sparked again. It was small at first, as all sparks are, a flame to be tended with gentle care, until one day, under the open sky, it burned again.
But in this moment, suspended thousands of feet above the sea, watching the Zephyr in pieces, falling away through the clouds, the flame again went dark.Marya couldn’t help but think that this time, it was for good.

Summary
She says that they don’t want to flood Van with all of this while she is recovering, and she can’t help but think it might be easier to recover if she knew what she was recovering from.
It feels like her brain was a carefully written letter on delicate parchment paper. Parchment paper that then had a glass of water spilled over it. Words dissolve to be illegible. They are still there, undeniably the ink stains linger, but the words - the events - are lost to time.

It is a dulled scent, hardly there at all, but it is so distinctly the smell of Comfrey. A smell she would never forget.
Coal plumes and mountain air, the pretty cheap cologne she always wears. The detergent she washes her scarf specifically in, though it always smells too much like Comfrey too. Spends so much time settled around her neck. Van misses the red of her scarf. Van misses red. Colour. Comfrey. Van misses.

Bert gently put a hand on hers, and she leaned into the touch, brushing their shoulders together with a sad sigh.
"You're wanted on the Zephyr," he said softly.
Freyja stands apart from the rest of the Zephyr, as someone who has no connection to Comfrey or the Wind Riders. Good thing Bert is there to keep her company.

This is sprung out of my desire to see some characters interact that never got screen time together during the show. Basically Greta has come to meet Carson next season, but she's nowhere to be found. So Greta decides tracking down Max might give her the answer to whether Carson is in trouble or has just run off with cold feet. Wackiness ensues. Several characters are going to make an appearance and I'll tag them as they do.
This is my first fic so comments are welcome, critiques appreciated but please be kind!
