Summary
Through all the trials Odysseus faced on his way home, Ogygia was the worst.
While Odysseus spared no effort to make back home to his wife and son, his captor and companion in isolation, the goddess Calypso, would not let the love of her life go so easily.
This unbalanced relationship unfolds in seven endless years of unrequited love and growing pain.

Summary
Is a small shift in the universe enough to change fate, or is fate immutable? Is the path predestined and must we walk it no matter how it is walked? Or can we carve a new path borne of desire to change it all?
Polites walks away from the Cyclops cave. Eurylochus doesn't. Will it matter in the end? Will things have changed? Or does it even matter that the end is the end, that the fated path will force their way onto it, when maybe, somehow, there's still a little less suffering in the middle? Must a change be grandiose for it to matter, or do the small hours and little moments make the same journey a little easier to bear no matter where they end up? Does the love that's there change anything at all, no matter how small?

Odysseus was still grinning at her, the tears in his eyes made his gaze gleam like stars. “Kill it. Or should I do the deed?” His eyes widened as he nodded to himself. “I have killed a babe before. Hector’s lambkin. I shall do it again.” His chest was heaving with ragged breaths.

Odysseus surprised even himself with the question that slipped from his lips before he’d fully realized it. In that moment, he understood just how badly he needed Athena to answer yes. It was just another cry for help he was making to the goddess of wisdom, but never before had it seemed so vital to know he had her on his side.
«I'll be there, my friend,» Athena confirmed without hesitation. The goddess's lips curled into a small smile that Odysseus managed, almost effortlessly, to return with relief.
However, when Athena spoke again, Odysseus couldn't help but feel all those positive and hopeful feelings being stripped away from him as easily as he had just thought them arise.

This is a literary retelling of EPIC from Love in Paradise and beyond. If this picks up and gets some traction, I may also continue with the Vengeance Saga and the Ithaca Saga as well. And possibly beyond.
This will be from the perspective of the gods - occasionally, there may or may not be a mortal point of view in certain cases, but mostly it’s focusing on the Greek pantheon’s perspective.

Summary
Eurylochus’ face looms over him as he looks up, trying to push himself from the ground. His brother-in-law’s expression is one he’s seen many times before; he has just never been on the receiving end of it.
Odysseus’ body seems too heavy for him to even stand, every time he tries to move, he is met with all-consuming pain and his lungs feel ready to collapse. He tries to speak, to plead, but all that comes out of his throat is a pathetic croak.
“You are a twisted man, Odysseus. We were all just too trusting to see it.” Eurylochus’ words are sharp and biting, but they are true.
Odysseus is twisted. He is sick and evil. He is a monster.
”You will go down in history just the same as Hector. Your legacy will be one of selfishness and cruelty. The people will know you as a liar and a whore. It is all you will ever be.” Eurylochus raises a foot and brings it down hard on Odysseus’ chest.
He gasps and coughs, but somehow finds his voice, “They will not know you.”
Eurylochus shouts as he raises his sword, and the last thing Odysseus sees is the blade headed for his jugular.
