Viktor came to stand in front of the silent form and sank to his knees before it so he could be level with Jayce’s face. He crawled closer, ducked under Jayce’s arms, and rose up into their embrace. He gazed for a long time at Jayce’s face up close and took in every little detail. From the pearlescence of his milky eyes, to the expression of calm acceptance he wore. Hexcorization spread opalescent patterns over his face that glimmered in the light of the sun. Even in decay Jayce still looked so beautiful that it made Viktor’s heart ache.
Viktor was suddenly overcome with a strange fancy. Perhaps Jayce was just in stasis and now that Viktor was no longer the Arcane Herald, he would wake up. He raised his hand to Jayce’s rough cheek and caressed it as he whispered.
“Jayce? Wake up…”
Only silence answered him, no change or sign that his words mattered. Viktor’s voice rose louder as he pleaded.
“Please, Jayce. Wake up!”Viktor's journey to becoming the Mage, his redemption and reclamation of self. Viktor's painful path to reviving husk Jayce.

The image is blurry at first, a blue spot stands out until the zoom is finally adjusted. A young woman is waiting for confirmation from the person handling the camera.
“All set,” says the cameraman. “Can you start by introducing yourself?”
The woman smiles and nods at the camera. “Hi, my name is Jinx Lane. I’m twenty six years old and I’m a researcher at the Twin Cities Institute of History.”
“What exactly do you do for the institute?”
“Well, officially” Jinx says, making air quotes with her hands. “I’m in charge of an investigation about Zaun’s historical connections to Shurima. Which is a fancy name for content creation for history books.”
Jinx laughs at her inside joke. “In truth, the goal of the investigation is to find proof of the existence of hex-gems. The investigation was originally in charge of my late mentor, Viktor Ambroz. I took over after his passing.”

In a universe two steps from canon, the Arcane Herald exists as a patron god of Zaun. At age 8, Jayce encountered this god, changing the course of his life. At age 14, he is discovered by the Herald’s order and told he’s the god’s Chosen, his mortal consort. At age 18, Jayce is sent to live in the Commune, the heart of the Herald’s order, to ascend to his destined status.
Given a year to prepare, Jayce is paired with an Acolyte named Viktor to teach him the ins and outs of his role. As time goes on, Jayce finds himself drawn to Viktor, unable to stop himself from falling for the other man. Jayce finds himself torn between his growing feelings for Viktor and his destiny with the Arcane Herald. Meanwhile, Viktor is holding onto a secret of his own. The only question is if this secret will bring them together or tear them apart.

Hextech had rocketed Jayce into the lauded Man of Progress, which meant fewer people were willing to actually give him any meaningful pushback. His almost-mentor, deep within Zaun, was one of the very few who still gave him critique, still seemed to be waiting on him to prove himself. It was only when Jayce’s work began to venture into medicine that he revealed how he expected Jayce to prove himself:
Use magic to cure a man with just about the only mind Jayce had ever seen as a match to his own, kept in suspension ever since his disease grew too advanced, a man named Viktor.
