Summary
John and Arthur don't die at Kayne's hands in England, though neither of them knew who or what saved them. After mysteriously returning to Arkham, they set off to stop him from killing Azathoth. Soon, it becomes clear that something is happening to Arthur, and something worse is happening to John. As they meet old and new friends, they realize that they must reconcile with their demons if they want to save the world.

What if, in this AU Kidlock story, John Hamish Watson had met William Sherlock Scott Holmes and James Mycroft Ambrose Holmes, and their parents, when John and Sherlock were just children? In fact, suppose that Sherlock and Mycroft’s parents had decided to take John in as a foster child and then to adopt him, when they learned about his family situation? What if Mycroft and Sherlock had become John’s adoptive brothers? This AU Kidlock story shows how that could have come about. (I've borrowed the rest of Mycroft's full name from sgam76's own head canon with sgam76's permission—thanks, sgam76! Sherlock's own full name is, needless to say, canon-compliant, as is John's.)

John just wants things to go back to the way they were, and Sherlock thinks things will never be the same. While John and Sherlock struggle to find balance in their lives, a new villain rises. It would seem Moriarty's network isn't as dead as Sherlock was led to believe. He knew Sherlock was going to survive the fall, and he intended to make good on his promises. He is going to burn the heart out of Sherlock Holmes.
This is heavily inspired by the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books. Of course, I did take some creative liberties similar to how the BBC series did it.
