Summary
A few months before his clash with the Red Ring and Shroud; Mecha Man- (Robert Robertson,) had a close call at the marina with a water-powered Red Ring villain named Torrent. He nearly died because of it, and the past still haunts his every waking moment. Now, entering the fifth month of his absence and announcing his retirement, Robert begins his new life as a dispatcher at SDN. During his time there, he encounters a lanky new hire. Something about him is incredibly off, yet Robert can't help but be drawn to him.
Is he the solution that Robert's been searching for? Or just an illusion of smoke and mirrors? -

A few months after Shroud's downfall, the SDN office is rebuilt. And with Halloween coming up, what better way to celebrate than with a costume party? Even though everyone normally wears costumes to work anyway?
With his suit in need of repairs and upgrades, Robert returns to his dispatching desk. Mandy wants to share her secrets with him, but worries how he'll react so early in their relationship. Flambae rewrites another '90s pop song and probably needs a new car insurance policy. Malevola somehow turns green. Sonar's hopes of getting paid to goof off are quickly dashed. Coupe tries to fit in again after being let go and brought back. Phenomaman is... well, Phenomaman. And Invisigal might not actually be as over it as she thought she was.
Meanwhile the Red Ring, still licking their wounds after their defeat, would like to plot... something. If only they could just get their act together.

He knew Mal wouldn’t want him doing this. He remembered how she’d warned him to stay away from hard drugs like this. How they were a completely different kind of high from the usual shit he used, and how the crash was far worse.
But what she thought didn’t matter anymore. Nothing she thought or said fucking mattered.
All that mattered was the oozing syringe in his hand, the tourniquet cinched tight around his arm and held in place with his teeth, and the vein pulsing just beneath his skin. Soon, he’d be able to forget—forget the empty promises of the Phoenix Program, forget Mal’s hollow calls for a new start.
And most of all, forget that he ever joined that stupid fucking NA program in the first place.
Now, if only he’d stop shaking long enough to get the needle in just right…
