When her spell was complete, the six pale skulls turned to face Icarus, their green eyes glowed and their fangs were bared menacingly. Then, lowering their jaws, out sprouted glowing green tongues. A shiver ran down his spine. The tongues were long and thick, ambrosia-gold saliva dribbled down them. They seemed to almost be grinning at him, hungry for him.
“Revaal will keep you company while I’m gone,” Melinoë stated, gesturing for the skulls to creep closer to the submissive shade, “but you will not release until I command it.”
