Kaveh knows he's in a video game. He doesn't know how, he doesn't know why - he just knows that being a sentient video game character is his existence now. Still, it's not bad - he gets all the time he could ever want to work on his architecture, and when he gets tired of the inside of his office, he takes a walk through the beautifully rendered forests of 'Heart's Blood'.
But when a handsome stranger logs into the game for the first time and picks the strangest dialogue choices available, he's left floundering and flustered.

A mass grave is discovered at the edge of the desert, and in it 20 corpses with strange circuitry-like marks on their skin, and masks fused to their faces – masks inscribed with a strange, nearly extinct language that can only be read by a dangerous, reclusive Eremite Tribe . . . and, inexplicably, by Alhaitham.
Perhaps he should be more bothered by the fact that he never actually studied or learned this language than he is, but as Alhaitham heads out to investigate the grave with Cyno, to learn what happened to these people, there are plenty more pressing problems to worry about. Assassins, betrayal, and ancient secrets plague them on their path to uncover a dangerous plot that threatens all of Sumeru, and suddenly it’s all they can do to survive. I saw a writing prompt one day. I immediately started thinking about how a story could get to the point described. In my inspiration, my mind popped out an entire character. I figured I'd start writing about her.
Three months later, I've finally finished. It's barely longer than my last work and took just as excruciatingly long.
The setting of the story is mostly inspired by gothic horror, specifically Innistrad from the MTG universe. I took most of it and discarded it in favor of worldbuilding and character building.
Writing this made me realize that I need to get into a hyperfixation on my work in order to finish it. Most of the three months of development was spent trying to get back to creating this work, with no success. Once I'd fantasized about branching story paths for 30 minutes straight, I could finally write for hours on end, stopping for nothing.
Thanks for reading this. It's a labor of love. Not for me, not a for a person at all, but for the sake of pure creation. I had a good time. I hope you like it.Bookmarked by Badabingbadab00
