Summary
Robin Buckley is going insane.
She’s sat on the couch with Nancy Wheeler stood behind her carefully cutting away chunks of black hair from her singed scalp where she’d nearly lit herself on fire. In her defence, holding the flame thrower was Steve’s job, but Mr Hair had been nursing a dislocated shoulder for the last couple weeks, and Robin was nominated to pick up on his sloppy seconds. The thing was heavy, okay? How could any one expect her, a 120lb mess of gangly limbs and zero hand eye coordination to wield (what felt like at least) 200lbs of pure steel? She’s only partially to blame for her new, frankly horrific, pixie cut.
Surprisingly though, that’s not the reason she’s going insane.
It’s the two teenage boys preparing dinner to her left that are the cause.

A hand grasps his shoulder, someone is saying his name. It’s Mike. Who else would it be? He’s crouching down so they’re at eye level, a smile so big and so bright Will swears he’s looking at the Sun.
For the first time in a long time, Will Byers is proud of who he is. For the first time in a long time, he accepts that he might deserve love, only he still doesn't think he's actually going to get it.
Mike finally works through his feelings, but for some reason, Will keeps rejecting him.

It’s not that he hadn’t known already, how his and Will’s relationship has always been a little different than their other friendships, or how he never wants Will to leave his side, ever, or how sometimes he looks at Will and wonders what it would be like to kiss him. It’s more that he had never really put a name to any of that, had just pushed it down or ignored it or acted like it didn’t mean anything. Until now.
Mike realizes his feelings for Will, and Vecna promptly uses them against him.
Will wonders why his best friend has stopped talking to him.
