Summary
There is a sound just past the bedroom and Victoria thinks, for one second, that wouldn't it be hilarious—wouldn't it be the fucking titular encapsulation of her pathetic life—if Dr. Robby came back early from his depression trip and walked in on his med student fingering herself in his bed.
Yes, that would be the absolute worst case scenario.
Victoria opens her eyes and is met with the second worst scenario, in a moment like this.
"Ah. Well, sorry about this." Dr. Jack Abbot, Emergency Medicine Attending at PTMC, grips at the doorway, blinks once, and then remembers to turn away. "Don't let me interrupt."
Victoria Javadi would scream if she wasn't currently in the process of dying.

Summary
“It’s—it’s clean.” She’s a doctor, and before she was ever a doctor, she was clinical, precise, and careful.
After a moment, Robby says, “I’m sure it was, but after a day in the ER it isn’t anymore.”
White lines, marred by angry red. Disinfectant stings but no more than she's used to (no more than she likes), Robby tending to it gently, like there's nothing more natural, but clinically, because he can't get too close. Her hands in her lap tense. Her muscles contract. On instinct her body doesn’t let her relax, and she’s not sure it ever will, not when Grace spent what was left of her sanity caring for Trinity, and when it was too much to handle, let her body relax forever. She let herself give into it. Trinity wanted to give into it too.
Trinity faces relapse; Robby tends to her. It's not as unnatural or wrong as either of them feels it should be.

No one, it turns out, really knows one another.
(OR: all it takes is a summer-long holiday in Italy, James Potter's teetering mental stability, a secret relationship, friends with benefits, Marlene’s secret, and enough stupidity and insecurity to go around for everything to come crashing down around them.)

Summary
She doesn’t know exactly what’s going on with Harper and the woman she’s eventually introduced to as Abby. But Riley is smart, and if anyone’s an expert on this situation it might be her. There’s something a little too familiar in Harper’s eyes when she and Abby step out of the bathroom, it’s more than her normal Riley-guilt/discomfort and Riley just knows. The sick feeling in her stomach hits first and her brain follows a minute later, oh no. Harper. Not again.
OR
Riley watches history repeat itself.
