It's a fact of life that Tim has money. Between being a Drake and then a Wayne, the normal standard for how much to spend on friends and family has never been, well, normal to Tim. And besides! It's not like Kon 'my dad doesn't like to acknowledge me and therefore won't pay child support' Kent can pay for his stuff. Or Cassie 'my dad is Zues and my mom is struggling as is' Sandsmark can afford a new pair of shoes every few weeks. Or Bart 'I literally don't have a social security number let alone a bank account' Allen can.
It's the right thing to do. That's what he tells himself, at least. That's certainly what he's going to tell anyone who's brave enough to ask.

Leo glanced back at his brothers to find them all looking back at him. Awaiting his decision.
Leo sighed, meeting Yoshi’s gaze evenly. “We’ve come to warn you about Oroku Saki.”

He sets a hand on his arm and meets boiling skin. His eyes widen because he was not that hot before, at least, he doesn't think he was. Raph sets a hand on his forehead on instinct, trying to pretend that he wasn't at a temperature where his brain should be melting with this kind of heat. He didn't think turtles could handle being this hot.
He exhales, horrified. "Donnie?"
He earns a single chirp. A weak plea that does nothing to express the fear that spills over as a fresh wave of tears.
With presten clarity, Raph recalls the night's events.
A single icepack is not going to fix this.

Summary
Raph could have all the problems in the world, seriously, Donnie could spend hours and hours talking about how his dear brother could stop breaking his sais. But his older brother's greatest quality, far more prominent than most of his flaws, was his courage. Braver than his other three brothers, even if sometimes Raph himself didn't realize it.
Which was funny to say the least, after all it was Raph who invented the nickname “fearless leader” to piss Leo off.

“Come on!” Raph whined, unhappy about the sudden role reversal, but unable to do anything about it. “I can be trusted with explosives.”
Donnie stared at him for a moment like Raph had just told him Mikey always had great ideas. After another few seconds, he simply turned around and kept walking.

Okay, to be fair, Donnie wasn't usually the plans guy. Leo was. But making plans involved someone smart, and Leo had been out of ideas, and Donnie had been dying to use the new gadget he had built- it was a small thing, really. It looked like a sparkler. But it would have done the trick. Ruin the mechs, activate the fuel, and glitch. The four would have been a safe distance away so their phones didn't break, it should have been easy.
Donnie had forgotten to check what the 'water' tower actually held.
"Donnie?" The squeal the youngest had made sounded anything but reassuring, breath hitching and terrified. Donnie could hear the door of the tank closing behind him as he tried to jump to join his brothers. "I- dude, I don't wanna scare you, but I don't think water is supposed to smell like-"
BOOM!
Donnie miscalculated.
Or
A mistake from Donnie caused all three of his brothers to get hurt.
Now back at the lair and away from the chaos, said genius is not handling the guilt very well.
