    Summary

He adapts well to each occupation.
Something moves inside the body's stomach; it protrudes outwards, then settles back into place.

    It will serve perfectly.

You feel it, don't you, William?

Will doesn't respond, not with his voice. But the body beneath him heaves faintly, forcing a whimper.

Every inch of you knows. Every pulse. Every tremor. I have already claimed it.

The words are like a caress and a claw at once. Warmth snakes along his spine – Will's spine – impossibly close, like a hand resting where none should be.

Why fight to protect what is already mine?

Three months after the bridge collapse, when Hawkins begins to rebuild and things feel normal again, something starts stirring in the recesses of Will's mind.

    Or, someone.
