Summary
"What I want— No, what I need is for you to marry me, Prince Jisung," King Lee says, his tone leaving no room for negotiation, and yet, his scent has gone damp. Jisung wants to ask what it means, why his scent has changed when he asked Jisung to marry him, but he has more pressing issues at hand.
Jisung continues to walk beside King Lee, his mind racing as he tries to figure out how to respond. His mother's voice rings in his head, telling him to trust his instincts, to trust his omega, but his omega is confused, as is he.
"I do not see how a betrothal to me would stop Cloudcrest's advances on Shorehaven," he says, voice tight.
Unless…
Jisung's head snaps to King Lee's face, and he realizes the king's intention.
"You and Prince Vincent, right?" The alpha smiles cruelly, and Jisung hates him, hates the alpha, the king, and the man all in one body.
Or: Jisung is the only heir to the Verdanian Kingdom, and with war looming between neighboring kingdoms Cloudcrest and Shorehaven, he receives a letter from Alpha King Lee requesting him. What could he possibly want with the omega prince?

Minho’s voice dropped. “What do you want from me?”
Jisung’s eyes changed.
It was subtle at first — a flicker, a shift — and then unmistakable. The brown deepened, warmed, ignited from within. Gold bled into the irises like sunlight catching the surface of a river, shimmering, alive. Minho froze. He had never seen eyes like that on anyone before.
Jisung held his gaze, unblinking. “I only want what is rightfully mine. I want my humanity. I want my freedom. I want my dignity. I want what I deserve now.” His voice softened, but the steel beneath it remained. “Only you can give me these things, alpha.”
“Stop calling me alpha,” Minho snapped, the words cracking out of him before he could stop them. “Stop calling me alpha.”
Jisung tilted his head, studying him with unsettling calm. “You will become my husband, Minho‑ssi.”
Or: Two men trapped in a marriage neither chose ; One desperate to escape his hometown, the other desperate not to lose the life he built far away from home.

“Uh, yeah, I did!” He chuckles, running a hand through his hair. Fushiguro opens his mouth like he wants to say something more, but Yuuji barrels forward.
“I mean, the bikini lady was hot, sure, but, uh, also really juvenile, you know?” He blurts out. “And like, I wanted something that was, uh, more… representative of my current interests?” Nailed it.
Fushiguro furrows his brows. “So… you got a poster of Sasuke instead? From Naruto?”
“Mhm!” Yuuji nods aggressively. “Love Sasuke. Can’t get enough of him! I just adore the whole show. And the manga! Such a huge fan! I really enjoy the, uh, extended metaphor about cycles of hate and generational trauma. I eat that stuff up! I just don’t own any of the manga. Or the merch. So, uh-” Yuuji gestures wildly behind him. “- Poster.” he finishes awkwardly.
“... Gotcha.” Fushiguro replies slowly.
Yuuji replaces his bikini model pin-up with a poster of Sasuke from Naruto. Which could mean nothing.

He lifts his head in time to see something pass over Itadori's face—a shadow of some kind, an infinitesimal twitch of muscle. "Megumi," he repeats, his voice a low murmur, and Megumi's surprised at how familiar it sounds coming from Itadori's mouth. "Huh. What an old fashioned name."
(Or: two hundred and sixty-six years after his death, Fushiguro Megumi is reborn. It takes a while before either he or Yuuji realise it.)
