In which we explore some of the off-screen time between game scenes. Team bonding, dispatching, character studies, and various donuts eaten while on the job. Focus is mostly platonic and team-dynamics because I really really want more screen time with the other members of Z-Team... but I am also an action and angst writer, so buckle up. Not ACTUALLY writing a non-romantic Robert so much as Robert who is too fucking exhausted to do anything about, like, dating in Season 1? Something like that. The one-sided crushes go fucking HARD tho.

"A search and rescue mission was finally proposed in a town hall meeting one night in the central plaza. Julie had watched as a father, with his son and daughter meekly trailing behind, made a plea to cobble together a few people to try and look for any other survivors beyond the shores of their new island. He had been one of those whose residence had been torn away on another piece of Lumière. He was a simple painter by trade, but was willing to take up any job if it meant finding his wife and eldest daughter again, who had been separated from the rest of the family. That desperation was so achingly known to the point that words needed not be spoken between the people in attendance to reach a unanimous agreement. It was natural, then, that the man - Renoir - was appointed the leader of the mission. Those who weren’t already neck-deep in rebuilding the city were eager to join, with Julie included. She didn’t think she’d be able to take another day of living in the midst of such a stark reminder of the way of life she had lost."

How the fuck did they end up in this situation?
Ed glanced back at Al, Roy, Riza, and Mei, all four of them knocked out and unresponsive after an enemy attack. Ed was the last one standing which sucked considering he had a) no idea who the fuck the enemy even was and b) was the only one without alchemy or a gun to defend himself with. He had his seven throwing knives, sure, but since the five of them were currently hiding out in the ruins of a house in Xerxes with shit defenses, Ed didn’t really count on his ability to stab someone to get them out of here.
Nobody was surprised when assassins interrupted the peace talks between Xing and Amestris - but no one had counted on Edward Elric being the last one standing.
