He looked over at the corner Ringo had nestled himself into. The drummer was fast asleep against the wall with his knees pulled up and his head resting on his arms. “Richie! Richie!” he called, but Ringo didn’t stir, so George put down his guitar and walked over.
George had been paying more attention to Ringo since the Tonsillitis Incident earlier that year. And it was something he might have missed before, but up close, Ringo looked ever so slightly paler than usual, and there were dark circles under his eyes, and he was breathing through his mouth, and he’d been late to the studio that morning and George hadn’t heard him speak a word all day since they’d said hello seven hours ago and when George reached out to shake him awake he was warm to the touch.
“Fucking hell, Richie!” he said before Ringo was even fully awake.
“Huh?”
“Are you ill??”

Summary
Silence fell again. Ringo put a hand on George’s back, between his shoulder blades, and just rested it there. George melted under his touch. After a few moments, he leaned over, tucking his head under Ringo’s arm. He sighed.
“I miss me siblings. It would all be worth it if I could see Louise. But we don’t ’ave time. And she’d ’ave to get through a thousand kids to get to me, and I don’t wanna make her do that.”
“I miss me mum,” Ringo said, trying to help. He didn’t have any siblings, but he knew what it was like to miss family. He could feel George nodding into him. “I think she’s terrified they’re going to kill us out here.”
“I’m terrified they’re going to kill us out here,” said George darkly. Ringo squeezed him for a second.
“I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to get morbid.”
“I know. Sorry.”

He turned around, and Ringo was shirtless. He didn’t even think anything of it until he saw the expression on Ringo’s face.
“Oh, sorry,” Paul said mildly.
“It’s okay,” said Ringo stiffly. “I don’t mind.” He yanked his pajama pants up with one hand and reached blindly for his shirt with the other, pulling it over his head as casually as he could, but not before Paul saw what Ringo was trying to hide--a long, ridged, deep-looking scar up his belly, ending around his belly button.
Ringo was lucky he wasn’t rooming with John or George, Paul thought to himself. Neither of them had any semblance of tact. Paul at least had the decency to not mention it.

Abed froze. The bird froze. They stared at each other, perfectly still.
And then the bird flew away, and the moment broke. Abed watched it fly in silent awe. It was beautiful.
