Pearl shows up at the entrance to the ranch half expecting Jimmy not even to open the gate and just shoot her from a distance. He doesn’t open the gate, but he doesn’t shoot her, just hangs back looking wary and uncomfortable. Pearl says, “I came to apologise, it’s not a trick.”
Jimmy doesn’t relax. “Right,” he says. “Apologise. Did you bring back the horse?”
It’s not even his horse. Truth be told, Pearl isn’t entirely sure whose horse it is in the first place. “I lost it,” she says, truthfully. The horse, that is; she lost the horse. She tells Jimmy, “I don’t actually want to bully you so you’ll like me more.”

"What is that."
"Um." He blinks once, twice and looks away before the third one. Unable to stand how Scott watches him, unblinking in his intensity. "A nest?" Scott's irritation doesn't wane with his answer, if anything — if possible — it only grows stronger. "My nest?" He tries instead.
He looks back into the corner he had claimed as his, a good few feet from his bed and tucked cosily into the corner, safe. The bed he had been gifted, in all its bare-mattressed glory, sat squarely in the centre of the room, exposed on all sides. His nest had walls all around, nestled comfortably where they converged, right in the junction so he can push himself back into the wall and feel secure. Surrounded on all sides and eyes on the door, comforted, even if it's nothing but cold, unfeeling brick.
"That," Scott spits, no small amount of venom in his voice, "is not a nest."

But each time he turned to go back (because being alone in these woods was stupid) he saw Sausage avert his eyes, Martyn shrug with an apologetic wince, and Drift stare at him silently.

Oh my god, he just called the other ‘really pretty’, he just referred to him as that, he didn’t mean that— well, he did, but that wasn’t the point, he wanted to apologize!
But before he could move his hand away in social mortification, a surprisingly soft hand gripped him with an amount of care Avid hadn’t expected. He glanced up, and oh god, the other dropped almost half the towel. Avid could see the droplet of water going down the side of his leg!
The expression and voice on this guy's face was terrifying. “Well, hello, Avid,” He pronounced the word with mistrust. “I’m Scott Goldsmith, but you can continue to refer to me as ‘really pretty’.”
Avid’s eyes became wider and wider as the other spoke, and by the end of it, he screamed internally.
My roommate is a psycho!
Or, Post-Canon fic! I made a spinoff of what happens after Episode 8 from Scott's ending with a sprinkle of Avid reincarnation to cure my sadness of episode 7

Whether Avid was lying about being turned or not, it had been time for Legs to show him the lab. He was at his wits end over the cure, shaving time away from sleep at both ends of the night to tinker and prepare. They still hadn’t found the third book and he didn’t trust his chemistry skills enough to subject Cleo or Apo to his experiments. He needed someone with experience. Even if the only person who came close to fitting that label was Avid.

The cell was colder than Avid expected.
That was stupid of him to think. Obviously the cell he'd made specifically to house himself when—if he got turned would be cold, with his dead skin and still veins and numb limbs and the icy silver that inhabited it with him. Nothing about him was warm anymore—and it's not like he deserved to be. He'd chosen to die, to give up the shreds of humanity he'd been grasping at for years in hopes of a cure for himself just to end up dying. He was dead.
or, when Pyro finds Avid hiding in his jail cell, they decide he can't be trusted to navigate vampirism on his own and decides to be his mentor. Avid isn't particularly fond of this idea.

Summary
Avid knows Scott is a vampire, but he can't prove it. Everything about him oozes vampiric energy, from how he disappears into the woods to how his mere presence stops consecrations to how he won't even show his face anymore, not since he went off with Pyro and Owen. When Scott invites him and Ren into the forest to explore in the dead of night, he's all the more suspicious. When Scott chooses to buddy with him, however, that's when Avid can't take it anymore.
or, a canon-divergent fic where instead of teaming up with Ren in the forest, Scott forces Avid to pair with him.
