Summary
Merlin fell into Arthur’s arms and wrapped his arms tightly around him.
“Sorry,” he said with a chuckle. “Clumsy old me.”
Arthur’s hands hesitantly crept around him, and they stayed there for a minute. Satisfaction danced through Merlin as he successfully hugged his friend.
Merlin assumed Arthur didn't like hugs, but after a hug, he realized maybe he had been wrong. And so Merlin makes it his mission to hug Arthur as much as possible.

Little under 200 miles south, somewhere between the layers of reality and several sheets of lake sediment, the once and future king rests. Slowly, called forth from the mud and ecosystem he’d lent himself to in his millennium of absence, his being forms again. Carp and pike swim nearby undisturbed by the stirring of silt and algae, in some way that would poetically suggest their familiarity with this presence.
Arthur himself is having a pleasant dream.

It started after Merlin showed him his magic. It began as a small cough and Arthur thought nothing of it…not until Merlin was finally named Court Sorcerer, his new robes blue with butterflies around the trim- the same butterflies he always loved to conjure- and Merlin was standing there giving Arthur the happiest smile he’d ever seen on the man…That night, with Arthur’s heart at its fullest, he began coughing up blue flower petals.

Of course, Arthur being Arthur, his pride won’t let him admit he needs anything — least of all company. Good thing Merlin is just as stubborn as him, as well as patient and understanding.

„M-Merlin?“, Gaius stammered, sounding like he was on the verge of a heart attack.
„Yes?“, asked Merlin, puzzled.
Gaius nearly fell off his chair.
„Merlin, I can’t see you!“, he shouted.
„What do you mean you can’t see me? I‘m right here“, Merlin replied. „Maybe you need to get your glasses checked, they aren’t working properly.“
„Merlin, look down at your hands!“
Merlin did. Or rather he tried. Because he found that he couldn’t look at his own hands because there were no hands to look at. His hands were still there because he could feel them and one of them was holding up his spoon. It was just that they weren’t there.Or: Merlin turns himself invisible by accident and finally gets to see Arthur freaking out about him missing in all his emotionally constipated glory.
