Dazai stood before the bathroom mirror, lips pressed into a thin line. His fingers trembled slightly as he unwrapped the gauze from his tail, revealing the damage beneath: thin, patchy fur, fraying into brittle strands. Bald spots marred the once-glossy black surface, raw pink skin peeking through like a wound that refused to heal. Even his ears, once sleek and perky, drooped under the weight of exhaustion and neglect, the soft hairs at their edges turning coarse and bristled like a broom. It was all falling apart now.
